we planned and actively TTC for DS.
we're not planning on ttc for LO#2 for a while yet, but i have this romanticized dream of getting a SURPRISE bfp for LO #2, sometime after DS is 1/1.5!

Yep! A very happy surprise though... We thought we'd need interventions in order to conceive!

1 was a real oops. I was doing NFP and charting as prevention for 2 but it didn't work out.

None of the 3 BFPs I got were surprises. We had been trying for 8 months with the first...then miscarried...another 5 months for the second, then miscarried, then another 3 months for the 3rd when I got my BFP for S.

We planned for DS, so more of a surprise when I finally saw two lines. DH got his summer birthday August baby after all.
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
Not a surprise because we were TTC, but our first BFP (m/c) happened faster than I thought it would. Of course, after the m/c, we actively tried for about 8 months before we got pregnant with this one.

I've had two surprise BFPs. When we start TTC for LO #2 this fall, it will be planned.

No, both were planned. But it was a surprise that it happened so quickly..... both on the first try.

Yes I nearly had a heart attack. DS and lo2 will only be 15-16 months apart. Still haven't come to terms yet!

1st bfp was a surprise but after miscarrying, our 2nd bfp was totally planned.

I was pretty surprised, stunned, bowled over... Definitely unexpected (but welcome).

yes, it was a shock!! My birthday is in October and we planned to start TTC after my birthday, but I was off bc and charting for a few months prior to that but always used condoms. One night I thought was were in a "safe day" and so we didn't use a condom as backup....dun dun dun! BFP!

@matador84: right there with ya sista friend! Lol
#1 we were NTNP, so no we weren't surprised that we got pregnant. #2 was a shock as I was on BC a d we weren't planning on trying until DS was closer to 1....I got pregnant at 6 months pp. they will be 1 day shy of exactly. 15 months apart.

Yep! We had planned to start TTC in May '13...but got a surprise BFP in Sept '12! It was meant to be--and somewhat fun for it to be unexpected!
@yoursilverlining: Our LO came to be same way! Thought it was a safe day!

Kind of. It was our first cycle NTNP and I never thought it would happen that quick. SO while it wasn't a total shocker in that I never thought I'd be pregnant... it was very shocking in that I never ever thought it could happen that quick. Very welcome shock though!!

Surprise! A very happy one but not really planned. We were planning on TTC in the near future but weren't careful a few times and bam.
I actually didn't POAS until I was 6 or so weeks.... My periods were not very regular and I just thought I was nauseous from drinking too much coffee (oooops).

yes we just got married. literally. It was less than 2 months after our wedding. we werent actively trying or anything
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
No surprise, very much planned. I was charting and knew we'd hit the right fertile days, then I had some symptoms that made me feel pretty sure we get the BFP, and we did-- although I still felt kind of stunned, even though I was kind of expecting it.
I hope I can be more laid back about #2, but I wouldn't actually hope for a surprise. I can't let go that much
bananas / 9357 posts
DS was planned and we were actively TTC. I was charting and taking OPK's. I'm the same and kind of wishing #2 is a surprise. I hope I can me more relaxed when we try for #2.

No we were trying for both, however both months of BFP's I thought for SURE I was out. I felt more pregnant the other months. So in that sense I was surprised
nectarine / 2878 posts
Yes and no? ha! We were NTNP so I knew it could happen but I didn't expect it on our 2nd month..I didn't feel pregnant and was only a couple days late (which is the norm for me anyways) so I tested and

It was kind of a surprise even though we were actively TTC because it was only my 2nd cycle on Clomid and it showed up at only 7dpo. We weren't expecting anything to work that early since I hadn't been ovulating at all after going off the pill and I had never been pregnant before.
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
Sort of. We were TTC but our timing was so crappy that I thought there was no way in hell it would happen that month. And it did. I still can't believe it.
nectarine / 2771 posts
The result of our first time NTNP'ing (yes I like to turn any word into a verb, haha) is currently 6 months old and waiting for me at home! Definitely surprised, but definitely wanted.
pomegranate / 3003 posts
We were charting, and abstaining during ovulation; my periods have always been like clockwork. As luck would have it, I ovulated a little early the month we conceived, and here we are.
coconut / 8681 posts
We were actively TTC for our first two and for E. This baby was a surprise but we weren't disappointed!
cantaloupe / 6669 posts
Yep! Though by the time I could take a pregnancy test, I had a feeling I was pregnant. I was still shocked though! After all the shock dissipated, though, I am so grateful we were able to conceive easily - I had always worried about infertility.

We were officially trying, but were surprised it happened on our first month after the doc said I was probably not ovulating due to short cycles.
GOLD / pomelo / 5737 posts
Only in that in happened the first month... Tbh I'd planned for a 3-6 month wait!

@Mrsbells: same situation - first cycle after our wedding - BAM! Preggers.
