My DS started at 5 months - he went for 1 week then was home the entire next week - went the 2rd week and was home again the 4th week!!!

He was sick off and on for 2 years..... then it magically stopped!

Yes, the first couple of months were rough. We had at least 2 ear infections plus a cold that didn't go away and turned into requiring nebulizer treatments.

Then he had a reaction to antibiotics that the daycare thought was HFM, that nearly sent me over the edge, lol.

@Cherrybee: YES, Maya has been sick literally constantly since January when she started. I'm hoping and praying that as the weather warms up, they'll all start getting sick less.

I think her constant illnesses are the root of most of her sleep issues.

She had a runny nose but she was well enough to stay at school.

I agree with the previous poster that I think all kids have to go through it at some point, to build their immune systems. My LO has been sick enough at home, I'm SO not looking forward to when he starts going to daycare/pre-school!

YES! He started daycare in January and has been sick pretty much since. I'm really hoping that the better and warmer weather will help. I have not been this much sick since I don't remember when.

Yes for LO 1 and no for LO 2.

Yes. He was sick constantly from two days after we started him in daycare. Was never sick a day before that. It got so bad, with ear infections, we had to have tubes put in, and we pulled him out of daycare. We got a nanny. Starting next fall, he will go back to daycare. I hope it isn't as bad this time!

She wasn't real sick from July-December. Then January-April, it has been a shitstorm. But from what I hear, EVERYBODY has been super sick. I think our ultra bad weather in the midwest is not helping.

God yes! She's almost two and we're just starting to get breaks in between sicknesses.

Yes, my LO had the same experience. He had a runny and stuffy nose from October through March! But, I feel lucky that he never had anything more serious than that.

My pediatrician did say that she's read studies that show the exposure to germs in daycare can have a positive effect on their long term health. I don't know if she said that to make me feel less sad/guilty, but it worked!

@Cherrybee: M started in December. Had two rounds of bronchiolitis, RSV, two hospital stays, a stomach bug and breathing treatments. He was diagnosed with asthma and I pulled him out of daycare. My job was becoming very frustrated with me taking weeks off after coming back, he was barely sleeping, and I was terrified of him dieing. The asthma diagnosis and RSV were the final straw. We have family and friends watching him at home now and plan to do the same next year. I'd rather have a sick kindergarten student then a baby.

M started in late February. Within 2 weeks she had a cold and ear infection. She was well for about a week then got another cold and double ear infection. This week has been the first week since early March that she has no cough, congestion, or runny nose!

ETA: Wow, after reading these responses sounds like we've actually been pretty lucky. I try to wash mine and M's hands each day when we get home from daycare, so I wonder if that's actually helping.

@Cherrybee: If it makes you feel better our pediatrician has told us he thinks it's better for them to just build their immune systems up when they're young. It does suck that they can't tell us what's wrong, but he said it's better for them to miss daycare than to miss school when they're older.

My son started daycare in January and had a rough first year of being sick with ear infections,however, I can tell you it got better the older he got. This past winter was much better for him. Hang in there, I know it's tough.

Yep! LO started daycare at 3 1/2 months (July) and we were all sick throughout his entire first winter. It was brutal! Our second winter has been much easier.
