Just curious! Sleep is going great for my 2.5 year old but I feel like it is time for a bed or toddler rail!

I voted other since my DS's transition didn't go so smoothly, but definitely better than it did for my DD. But it's been a few months now and I finally don't have to lie down next to him and he doesn't get out of bed except to go potty. We were falling sleep with my DD until age 4, so this was an improvement

Way better...it was a total non-event! He slept wonderfully in his crib but I needed to move him at 23 months due to LO#2's pending arrival.

It was about the same. My oldest is a great sleeper. He can still take naps and is one to fall asleep as soon as he's in the car in the afternoons. We haven't moved my youngest yet and I don't want to! He might be a toughie?!

Way better - it was a non-event. I think having a video monitor helps bc we could see her. She got out of her toddler bed the first day and I went up and told her she had to stay in her bed for bedtime. She never got out again. Then moving to a regular bed (we had just converted her crib before) was also an easy transition

We just did it this past weekend for our DD. Just shy of 2.5 y/o and so far its working good.

Following for encouragement. LO is an awesome sleeper, so we weren't planning on moving her for a while - after the baby is born in September. However, she's been asking to sleep in a big girl bed for about a month now, so we may switch soon.

We did it when he was a little over 2.5 years old and it was a non-event. I'm not sure why, but he treats it like a crib in the sense that he just doesn't get out of bed unless we come get him. It's awesome. Also, he has a pile of books next to his bed so if he wakes up and we tell him it's not time to get up yet he'll just look at books in his bed till we come get him.

@autumnlove: We also got him a fun fire truck bed that he was excited about, though I think just fun bedding would have been enough. We don't have a video monitor for him, but we have a 2-way audio so if he wakes up and says "is it time yet?" we can say "NO go back to sleep." We also have a "wake up light" on a timer in there so he knows that if that light is on, it's time to get up (and he calls for us), and if the light is off, he needs to go back to sleep (or read or whatever). I think in the ~6.5 months that he's been in this bed he's gotten out maybe once of his own accord, otherwise he stays in bed till we get him even if he WANTS to get out. There have actually been a couple of times when the light goes on but I'm feeding the baby or something and can't get him, so I'll get on the monitor and say "I can't come yet, but you can get out of bed and play with your toys till I get there, ok?" and he'll yell back "ok!" and do that.

It was the same. We transitioned at 33 months and he was a great sleeper in his crib. We didn't use a rail at all on his twin, so I was nervous about him falling out the first few nights. He did, but I had put his old crib mattress on the floor next to the bed, so I found him sleeping on that a few times, and after that it was fine.
