How do you keep all the ruffles and cap sleeves from curling? Do I seriously need to lay all her clothes flat to dry? Ain't nobody got time for that!
I feel like I'm missing something

I reshape as needed when I put the clothes on her. I don't hang/flat dry any baby clothes unless they are tie-dyed, handmade by me, or fancy party dresses.

@avivoca: Once the flutter sleeves dry curled, I can't get them to stay uncurled on her. Same with the little ruffles.

I started keeping a bunch of her hangers by the washer/dryer, so when they come out of the wash, I just hang the up to air dry. It really doesn't take any longer than hanging them up for her closet and that way I don't have to iron .

@looch: Ironing the majority of the baby clothes isn't going to happen, lol.
All of her clothes are either hand me down from a friend or gifted. Note to self, purchase more non frilly clothing I guess.

@kiddosc: I have started using a straightening iron on little pleated and folded details. Doesn't take nearly as long as setting up the iron!

@kiddosc: Just the sleeves, lol. I didn't mean the entire outfit!! I wouldn't do that either!
eta: that's also brilliant, using the flat iron!

I dry all of her clothes on a rack and yeah, I'll straighten the sleeves or neckline before setting it down on the rack.

I may have used a hair straightener to "iron" a couple straps flat before... in my defense, it heats up quickly and is super easy to get into specific parts of the clothing!

All of the above (except using a real iron!). Straighten/shape before tossing in the dryer. Use the flat iron. Or straighten/shape and hang on a kid hanger in my laundry room (which has a closet clothes bar - so helpful!)

I lay flat to dry. I also will use my hair straightener on ruffles when needed.

Brilliant idea to use a flat iron!
I just hang up certain outfits to dry. I straighten them out and stick them on a hanger.

@hilsy85: Flat Iron, brilliant
I guess I need to just suck it up and hang them...which means DH will never do baby laundry. "I didn't know what needed to go where."

Unless DD complains that it's uncomfortable, I just let them look crumpled and curled. Bad mommy, haha. I just don't have time to fuss with it.

@hilsy85: I use the straightening iron on sleeves and dress bows- I usually have it out anyway. Also, depending on the fabric, I will toss the clothes in the dryer with a damp towel for 5 minutes to steam them and then they will hang correctly.

I hang dry things where I notice the ruffles tend to curl if I don't do it...but I also find that often if you catch things JUST out of the dryer, you can straighten some ruffles/flutter sleeves while the clothes are still warm.

One other small thing I do is rather than just grabbing and shoving damp clothes in the drier is to give things a quick shake so fluf them some before they go in.
Also I wonder if dryer balls would help this at all? Anyone use them?

Ooh this is the only laundry trick I have and it works perfectly for this! The trick is not to use the spin cycle and take them out sopping wet, hang on a hanger after very minor reshaping and they come out looking like you ironed for hours, perfectly crisp! I only do this with the fussy stuff since it's an extra step to run the skin cycle for everything else again or to do a separate load of these items but it's worth it!

@PurplePeony: I just leave it too. Whatever. They still look cute, just wrinkled. But the flat iron is a great tip for the rare times that I actually care! (I don't use a clothes iron, ever.).
@T.H.O.U.: we use dryers balls just to help clothes dry faster and not get tangled or staticky and I don't think they help with the curled up ruffle issue. But also I almost never take things out of the dryer right away so that could be part of it too.
