What activities do you think of when you think outdoor water play? I have come up with pools, sprinklers and water balloons. What other ideas do you think of when you hear the words water play? What would be fun for 4 year olds?

Do you have the space to freeze a large container?
If so you can do an ice block with stuff frozen in it. I've been meaning to try it, but we don't really have the freezer for it, lol.

Splash pads! And slip and slides.

@looch: we could make space - and our neighbors have a deep freezer in their garage I bet they would let us use. I have a big 6qt container we could use for this, as well! Great idea.
@Mrs.KMM: I'm kind of hesitant about a slip and slide for 4 year olds but it's been on my mind, too.

Car/bike wash or water tables
Water obstacle course or relay races

I f you don't have a water table then put out some buckets and small toys for the pool - my kids love to just fill/dump water!

@Chillybear: car wash! Great idea. And I bet I could make a tub of colorful soap foam that the kids would like playing with.

If you have a larger concrete area you can paint the concrete.... We used to do this with our light colored cement patio and couple of large house painting brushes and buckets.... it dries up so no mess
