I wanted to buy L a water table for his first birthday, but we're not quite at the point where he can pull himself to standing or stand unsupported yet. I'm sure he'll be there soon, but I'm not sure about buying him something he can't actually play with on his birthday! So I was wondering...would it be possible to setup the water table on the ground - just not attach the legs to it? I haven't actually seen one assembled in person yet, and I know many bees have them, so I thought I'd ask!

Yeah - that would be possible! Our legs just snapped into place, and the bottom of our table is flat enough to lay on the ground. If you got one with an umbrella, you probably wouldn't be able to use that yet, but I can't imagine that'd be a huge deal.

Probably depends on the table. I think the one we have the legs come off but I am not sure. She got for her bday and it was put together when they gave it to her.

I think it may depend on the table, but yes! Though, to be honest my LO wasn't really into it at that age like I expected she would. She did love the kiddie pool!

You can take ours off the legs but I don't think the bottom is totally flat? So it would probably rock a bit when LO tried to play with it. But I agree with @Weagle: that at 12 months your LO may not be super into it. Our 17 month old is just now starting to "get it"

Ours you definitely can do that with! I think that would be super fun for any age.

Hmm, maybe I'll just hold off until next summer and figure out something else in the meantime. I'd love to get him an outdoor toy, but it's hard at his age!

@wonderstruck: You can even just do a little tub of water with cups and other toys in it instead of a water table. Grandparents got my son the 4 in 1 radio flyer trike for his 1st birthday and he loves getting pushed around in it.
