Are there any consignment stores nearby?

Garage Sales, consignment shops, local facebook mom sales group (this has been huge lately in our area). Family/Friends who are done with kids and wanting to part with toys they no longer play with.

We have a nice consignment shop that we go to. And we've gotten lots of hand me downs from people we barely even know. Nice stuff too!

In my area I know some churches do a big sale-- kind of like a flea market but just baby stuff. It's organized by the moms group with the church, but I know people who have gotten a ton of stuff, like big bags of used baby clothes and stuff. But, i think people find out about it through a list serve, which you mentioned you don't have.
Marshall's and TJ Maxx near me usually have nice, name brand stuff for a lot off. I've seen Melissa and Doug stuff, too, not just the clunky plastic stuff.

Garage sales, thrift store. I know there are a ton of classifieds facebook groups where I live and I get a lot of stuff from those

Diaperswappers has a toy section I was just browsing.. otherwise I'd suggest hitting up craigslist to search for church sales - they are goldmines for toys!

Lately toys have been finding me even though baby isn't here yet! I got Melissa & Doug abacus at Joanns for $2 and M&D wooden blocks at Michaels for $4.. no clue why either of them had toys haha!

I agree with the facebook moms groups! I've gotten loads of good deals on there.

totally agree with previous posters.....garage sales, consignment stores and thrift stores....I would wipe them down with some all-purpose cleaner and go! I personally wouldn't pay good money for toys because kids seem to "get over" them too quickly!
Oh, and you can borrow from friends with older kids. It seems like just about everyone has a pile of old toys in their basement:)

I don't know how legit they are but I see a lot of free to anyone who wants to pick up postings on Craigslist! Take your DH!

I notice that my son is way more interested in things that he doesn't see regularly...for example, he loves play kitchens but I know if we had one in our home, he'd never play with it.

We have a local kid's flea market where people sell stuff, plus there are a few second hand stores. Most people here though, don't have a ton of stuff because it is so expensive and it's not plastic...usually wooden toys because we're near Germany.
