Last time we travled with DD she was about 12 months
And on WCM
I didn't pack any thinking restraunts serve milk
Well I was surprised it was only 2%
We also went to Seaworld only 2% too!
Thankfully the Starbucks in our hotel had it in gallons for their drinks and she would just pour it in a grande cup for me and charge $2.00 
What do you do?!

I just let her drink whatever they have when we're out. She gets full fat dairy at home but I never thought it was too big a deal out of the house.

We do whole milk when we can find it (the airport convenience stores usually have individual bottles or the Starbucks, like you said). But if we can't, we don't sweat it and give him the 2%. A lot of pediatricians recommend 2% if you have a chunky kid anyway, so its not a big deal to me if he gets 2% here and there. I just try to get some extra cheese or yogurt in him.

We just drink what they have! They got skim at my mom's house, but we would just give them cheese or yogurt too.

I agree, whatever was available. Same for yogurt. But c was stil breastfed at that point and has really never drank a lot of cows milk- she will drink it but not a ton- so I figured it wasn't a big deal. But she also eats a lot of cheese which is usually full fat.

LO nursed until 2.5 so I never bothered with WCM much. He got some in a sippy with meals at home and at school, but if we were out, he usually just had water with his meal. I wouldn't sweat it over a couple outings if she gets it at home!

Sorry should clarify I mean traveling as in out of town for a few days, even so I think at this point I'd be comfortable with her getting it once a day and add in extra dairy with some 2%

2% won't kill them for a couple of days. If we are staying with my mom she will pick up whole for us but at restaurants and stuff it's no big deal. Most places are trying to be "healthy" and because of the data whole milk for older kids and general population isn't considered "healthy".

@T.H.O.U.: Oh absolutely, I just called our hotel and no fridge so I thought dang.... but I agree I don't think it will kill her for a few days!

@FaithFertility: if you tell the hotel you need a fridge for medicine or milk for a baby they sometimes can bring a small one to your room.
Also milk will stay pretty cold if you put the cup down in the ice bucket surrounded by ice. Enough you can get a cup of whole at Starbucks before bed and have the other half the cup in the morning.
Also look for milk boxes at the grocery store. They should carry whole milk and they are shelf stable (good at room temp).

I bring milk with me. When my son was younger and on whole milk, I would bring the shelf stable sealed 8 ounce packages.

@FaithFertility: the few times I have stayed in hotels with a baby they have brought a mini fridge when I asked and said it was for breastmilk or bottles. But I always request ahead of time. I haven't been charged I think because they consider breastmilk like a medicine that need refrigeration.

BTW, we just tried this over the weekend and it worked awesome - we used Nido. It's a powdered milk by Nestle but it's like whole creamy milk, not the nonfat powdered stuff. I tasted it and it really tastes like whole milk and DS sucked it down without batting an eyelash. It mixed really easily with room temperature water and then I added an ice cube or two. It was nice not to worry about refrigeration.

I'd just give whatever they have available. Plenty of kids drink 2% all the time anyway.

Shelf stable whole milk! You can buy it on diapers.com. 8 oz cartons, it's perfect! We did this when we went to Mexico in December, he was 15 months then.
I now keep some in the pantry for flights or trips.
It's best cold but perfectly fine to serve at room temp (probably just won't stay good for as long).
Also, If it's just a couple of days I'm sure 2% is fine. It's not dangerous, just not ideal.

I'd just let her drink whatever... Unless you can stop by a grocery store and stock up and keep it in an available fridge.
K eats tons of cheese anyway so if her milk intake is a bit low for a few days, I don't think I'd sweat it.

I was really worried about this when we first moved to WCM, too. I ended up just dealing with it because I figure it's not forever and she really couldn't (and still can't at 3.5) tell the difference. Once we got home, we went back to whole.

I think it's fine to do 2% at this point or even 1% occasionally. We were away for the weekend and my Sister only had 1% so that's what he got for a few days.
