You can certainly try! Some women start ovulating again when their babies start eating solid food more and thus, nursing less. Some women have to wean entirely to conceive. And some women seem to have no problem getting pregnant while EBF! Give it a whirl and see what happens - if you go through a few months with no luck, you can always re-evaluate then.

I got pregnant when I was still nursing, but my LO was a little older (right around 12 months). I think I was down to 3-4 pumps/nursing sessions a day when my cycle came back at 11 months. I had that one period and then got pregnant again. I know of several people who got pregnant around 6-9 months pp while still nursing. It's different for everyone but it does happen.

I had to wean down to once a day before I was able to get pregnant again. While I was ovulating prior to that, my LF was too short to sustain a pregnancy while breastfeeding. I hope you have better luck.

I got a BFP the week after I fully weaned LO, but I know lots of women get pregnant while still nursing. Give it a try.

@CatchAFallingStar: I think I read somewhere that if you go 8 hours of no nursing, all night, that mestruation will typically return around then. Good luck!!

@jh524: My dd has slept longer than that for months (usually 11 hours between last and first feedings), and no sign of AF! But I do think it's more likely for a lot of people.

I just started using opks, and I actually didn't ovulate until I had had 3 or 4 periods. I was still EBFing at the time I got pregnant.

I think it depends on how serious you are about getting pregnant quickly. If you try now, you could get pregnant right away or maybe not for months until you wean. If you are very serious, I'd probably start the weaning process and see if AF comes back. You might not need to wean completely, but you might find that you have to drop some sessions. However if you don't mind possibly waiting awhile, I'd just continue BFing and see what happens!
