I've been pumping for 6.5 months, and I'm over it now. I've been pumping about 5 mins less each session since the beginning of this week, and it doesn't seem like my supply is affected. I get the same volume with about half the pump time. I thought it would only take about 1 week to stop, but it doesn't look like that's the case. I am terrified of stopping cold turkey because my boobs hurt if I don't pump. Now, I start leaking before it's even time to pump, so I have to hand express a little. How long did it take for you to wean? Anything else I should do?

I cut out one session each week. And the week leading up to dropping a session, I pumped that session less and less every day.

When I stopped pumping, I would only pump for a few minutes for each session. Enough to make myself comfortable, but definitely not enough to empty the breast. I was able to stop in about a week doing that. I never had problems with clogged ducts though.

I would drop sessions slowly as opposed to shortening the time.

@Mrs. Champagne: how do you drop sessions slowly? its not by shortening the time?

@Pumpkin Pie: like if you pump 6 times per day, pick one to drop so you're only pumping 5 times. Then 4, etc. hopefully that decreases supply! Also try peppermint tea!

@Mrs. Champagne: I only pump 4x/day. 6am, 11:30am, 4:30p, 10pm. I tried not pumping at the 11:30 am session first, and I couldnt go all the way until 4:30.
I've been drinking peppermint tea every day. It kind of feels like I'm producing more as I'm trying to wean.
