Every year we go on a trip with 3-4 other young families to a tourist spot about 2h from home. Last year we all had toddlers (LO was around 10 months) and it was a total blast!
This year it's set for when LO2 will be 4/6 weeks old - is it crazy to consider going? What would you do??

At that age, I'd have had a blast taking my daughter to something like that. She was the typical easy baby. I'd say, plan to go, but just let everyone know that if you need to, you'll cancel.

@sarac: yeah that's what im thinking too! I feel like if I'm going to be stuck in 3 hr cycles it might as well be somewhere scenic? Lol DH feels like it will be a disaster!

I'd be a tentative yes. I feel like post preg everything's up in the air for a bit. We went on a long weekend getaway when lo2 was about 6 weeks and lo1 was 2.5 and it was great. We were def more low key than normal but we'd do a morning activity then rest then do an afternoon activity and dinner. It was really nice, I was happy for the getaway.

I would give a tentative yes! We did stuff like that with our LO all the time starting from when she was 2 weeks old. I think it depends on the LO, but it certainly could be a blast.

I say go enjoy. Baby will be happy with a boob/bottle and to sleep in the sling or ergo the rest of the time. It will be okay. Enjoy!

At that age, we were really struggling with BFing, but otherwise, she was super easy. It was cold out, which kept us in the house. I would have loved to get out!!

I would go, I'm sure the other kiddos will keep your DS busy and like you said, you might as well be somewhere scenic!!

i could have gone at that point with DD, but i dunno if i could make a hard commitment at the same point with two! i still voted go!

At that age, we hadn't figured out breastfeeding yet. I probably wouldn't go. If it was 10 weeks or more, maybe.

If it sounds fun, do it! When LO was 8 weeks we did a weekend trip to DC and had a blast. We are about to take a trip up north to see family (about a 11 hour drive with stops) when our newborn is 7 weeks. It's all about what you enjoy. To me staying cooped up for months is my personal hell. I would much rather be out and about! But if it feels daunting or youre forcing yourself to want to go, I would stay home.

@fuzzypeaches: We did a vacation when my daughter was 4 weeks to a family wedding. I would NOT recommend going to a wedding (bad first time mama choice) but the rest of the trip was totally lovely. I mean at that point it's less of a 'vacation' and more of a 'change of scenery' but I think a change of scenery is nice!

We went to my moms (3 hours away) when DS was 5 weeks old. It was fine! He actually slept really well there. I was still in pain though was the only annoying thing.
