congrats on finding a new job!

Congrats on the new job!!!

I was the opposite! I was PT in December due to cuts but went back FT in January.

By the end of the month I was exhausted and so happy to be back at work - I was not cut out to be a SAHM!

congrats on the new job!! i'm not in the exact situation, but i WAH 2 days a week but plan to start LO#1 in full time once she gets to the 2's class (in the next couple months!! ) i never had to go through the returning to work transition since i was at home with her most days, so i know i'll be sad the day that finally happens!

I SAH for 13 months after DD was born and being back at work is way better for me, but everyone's experience is different and equally valid

(By the way, did you miss working while you were a SAHM? I'm just curious b/c it sounds like you were trying to get another job but will miss being at home with your LO. Are there also things you are looking forward to about returning to work?)

I had about 4 months where I worked for myself doing freelance work; LO was in daycare 3x a week and with me 2x a week. I really loved those days with her, and having all the extra time in the week to run errands and do everything that falls between the hours of 6-bedtime when you WOH FT was really, really nice. It was fun to go to library storyhour with LO and do different activities with her during the week. It was awesome to have weekends that were not filled with “to-do”, and more just family time. I loved having more time to figure out and make dinner, and life was definitely more relaxed.

That said, I don’t really miss that setup being back FT WOH. I guess… it is what it is, and letting myself feel sad isn’t productive so I try not to do it, even though in the back of my mind I think working 3 days a week would be the ideal setup. I know that sounds robotic, but, it’s also kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy; if you dwell on dislike of something, you’ll be more unhappy about it. I also LOVE my job and LOVE LO’s daycare, so I feel content all around!

Congrats on the new job. Hopefully it'll lessen your stress with more money!

I've done both too... And though being at home means more time for house stuff, I also have many more messes to clean and more to do since we're home more. Just my two cents!
