Some people get paranoid that the baby will have issues if you try to conceive while having the flu/stomach bug.
Did that stop you? Where did you draw the line?
ETA: oops, i didn't mean fetus, so i edited the post.

I've never heard of this. I would skip that month if I didn't physically feel well enough to get busy, but I wouldn't worry that being sick would affect the fetus.

D was sick the cycle we conceived E. I wasn't worried about harm to the fetus, the bigger concern was being physically comfortable enough to have sex, and whether or not having sex would get me sick (for him, barely, and I didn't get sick, at least not from that )

If I was too ill to move, then yes, I would skip. If I felt mostly fine, then yes.
I wouldn't think about harming the fetus, more "Would I throw up on my husband?"

Never heard of this either! I don't think we ever avoided sex unless we were feeling really terrible.

@MamaMoose: I think I've read actual research
On the harm of a maternal fever while pregnant? Maybe?
We just had this conversation last night! So it is a discussion point at least, for us

@scg00387: http://www.babycenter.com/406_can-running-a-fever-while-im-pregnant-harm-my-baby_1246886.bc I think there is some risk, and more so after conception (not during) but there hasn't been anything conclusive? But i haven't found much on the topic other than threads on discussion boards.

My husband and I both had Hand, Foot, Mouth (thanks to our DS) but my husband was originally diagnosed with strep and given antibiotics. We were paranoid after two losses, so called the OB since I was ovulating. The OB said we should take the month off. I do not know if the issue was the antibiotics or the virus. I was not expecting that answer and was kind of ticked. My husband put it in perspective though and said you would never want to have anything you would do differently in hindsight should something be wrong with the baby.

We had been ttc for 8 months. DH was super ill last month but he carried in like a trooper (no kissing.lol) and 2 weeks later we got our BFP. NOTHING minor like the cold could have stopped us around ovulation.

@Thenetexan: ome antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin can cause joint defects in an unborn child so that may have been the reason.

DH had a sinus infection with a fever of 101 when we got pregnant. (I was charting and it was TIME!) He was secretly and irrationally terrified his sperm was mutated by the fever during my whole pregnancy until our son came out completely perfect in every way. I felt so bad afterwards when he told me that he worried in secret like that!

Depends if I was on medicine or not I guess. If I'm just icky sick feeling but toughing it out without meds then I'd still BD. If I was on antibiotics or taking a bunch of OTC meds then I might call the OB or do some research.

I don't know that any kind of general sickness would keep me from BDing. I've had a fever and still BDed. We just don't put our faces next to each other so as to not pass along our sickness. That being said, I wouldn't ever try to get pregnant if I was taking any kind of medications. No way, Jose.

After 19 months of TTC, nothing stops me. Well, nothing that I can control. I'm sure I'll feel better about a cycle if I was healthy but I want every cycle I can get.
ETA- Well, if we are feeling like crap, we might skip a cycle.
