hm, i was in a GATE program for reading in elementary and in honors/advanced/AP classes throughout jr high and sr high.
GATE wasn't a big deal and we just got to read more, which i loved! i don't even remember how we got into the honors track in jr high, so maybe it was a test? but i know people that did honors for some classes and not for others.
