We just used a zip wet bag (planet wise) and usually kept it zipped. I also had two of the grovia drawstring bags that we sent to daycare.

We use a heavy duty rubbermaid bin with snap lock lid, snap one side and leave other open to flip dipes into when changing!

Planet Wise pail liner in a diaper dekor pail at home, zipped Planet Wise wet bags for travel or out and about. We have two pail liners and two wet bags. One wet bag is a smaller size for daily use, the other is a little bigger. I use the bigger one when I take a trip over a long weekend (I cloth diaper on trips if at all possible), and keep it zipped.

I started with hanging wet bags but they weighed down my doorknob and I wanted a step can with a liner...so much easier!
I have a Simple Human trash can and 4 Kissaluv pail liners!

@Beebug: That sounds cool. Where is it from? Do you use a pail liner, or no?
@autumnlove: Cool. LO doesn't go into the can? This is my fear.
@LittleFox: We also have 2 zippy wet bags for travel/day trips.@T.H.O.U.: Which size? I am looking at getting a PW wet bag next.

We also have a simple human trash with pail liner- that's the easier choice, but I actually think that my planet wise wet bag holds in the stink better.

@pastemoo: it's a double zipper one with a wet and dry section. About a foot tall?

We actually do both. We've got a target step-to-open can with a Kissaluvs liner and a Planet Wise wet bag (large). We alternate use when one is in the wash.
We got both because I wanted to see which I liked better, but I like them both equally. Our son is nearly a year and not interested in the trash can at all yet. The wet bag hangs on the back of the door, so he can't get to it. We generally don't zip the bag.

We use both - a step can with a planet wise pail liner next to the changing area in LO's room for pee diapers and a hanging planet wise bag in the bathroom for poo diapers after they've been sprayed. I like both equally, and we've never had stink problems with either. Our step can is tall (kitchen size, not small bathroom size), so LO hasn't ever tried to get into it - it's too tall. We also have a couple small Whammies brand zipper bags for when we're out of the house. I like those as well.

@JoyfulKiwi: Do you think I would be better off not zipping the bag?
nectarine / 2667 posts
@pastemoo: we don't zip the bag just because we're lazy Are you having a specific problem with the bag? We don't get any stink - I think it's because we use liners (no poop residue) & spray with Bac-out. We also wash every 3rd day, so they don't hang round for long.

@JoyfulKiwi: It's the ammonia smell--particularly from the night diapers that is killing me.
I wash every other day. I don't have bac-ou t though.

We had strong ammonia smells too for a while. Have you tried different detergent or altering your washing routine? We actually started doing every 3rd day because it made larger loads & our HE machine would give out more water. It may be the diapers themselves and not the storage system?

We use a planet wise liner inside a simple human step on trash can. No issues. The can be locked if your concerned about your LO getting into it (we have the same trash can for the kitchen too). We use wet bags for in the diaper bag.

@JoyfulKiwi: We're still tinkering with the wash--this recent movereally messed with our laundry skillz.
