@Vegmama: thank you. I am really glad that I am ok too. When I get back to England I will put a complaint in to the hospital.

Hopefully have a better shot at breastfeeding - I know more things now!
Also, enjoy letting her sleep on me longer at night. I got too much pressure to not let her train me. Psh, calm down people, she was only 4 weeks old!

Enjoy the snuggles way way more and stop reading what he ought to be doing in terms of naps or sleep.

This is a great list. I want to establish better sleep habits but I'm not sure what exactly to do differently.
I don't want to spend so much money. I got caught up in buying all kinds of gadgets and gizmos to help whatever situation we were in. Yes a lot helped but it's expensive and short lived.

Introduce a pacifier sooner! I was worried about it affecting our breastfeeding relationship. But then she never took a paci. And fb went smoothly for us...
Ask for more help in the first few days home from the hospital. That tear was worse than I thought!
Also, I would like to deliver in a birth center with a midwife.

Establish good sleep routine EARLY! Take more pics of myself with the baby - I felt so fat last time I just didn't want any reminders of myself but I regret that now.

@scg00387: Yes, yes, yes!!! I was convinced I was damaging LO because I couldn't get her to nap as much as the chart said she should. She's clearly not damaged.

Baby wear from the start. Try not to freak out when a nursing strike happens (easy to say, not easy to do). Figure out the side laying breastfeeding asap!
Beyond that I'm really happy with how things have gone with C. We did a mix of bottle and breast from the start, started pumping from day 2, all of which helped my sanity so much! Mostly keep going with the flow, not locking into a schedule worked great for us.

I plan to stop nursing on demand earlier. I was still letting my 18 month old nurse whenever she wanted. Nope. I'll start limiting it at 12 months or earlier.
I also want to be smarter about dieting. I'm one of the lucky few who gain weight breastfeeding. So I'd try dieting, at what I thought was a really generous calorie count. But it would be too little, I'd go crazy, and then go back to eating whatever and not losing weight. If I'd just found an in between, I could have been successful way earlier.

Have a backup doula just in case (mine had to go home in early labor because her son was sick).
Make 100% sure I pick the right providers - trust my gut feelings.
Babywear more in the early days. We did, but not enough.

@scg00387: absolutely agree!! i stressed so much over LOs naps...even though she didn't even get cranky with her chronically short naps. she just doesn't need a ton of sleep. i'm just going to stop reading about what babies are "supposed" to do and enjoy my baby, period.

Try to breastfeed longer (but not freak out if it doesn't work again), relax and follow my instincts more, try to be less stressed.
