I have a few! Not thirty yet! I'm thinking of just going AU naturale with them. My grandmother has beautiful silver hair so I hope I get it too. My other grandmother dyes her hair and so does my mom.

They are starting to really come in on top (naturally). I think I'm going to be dying my hair soon. Sad. This is the first time I've had my natural color in ALL of my hair since I was 17!!

I have a streak of gray in my bangs that would make me look like Rogue from X-men, as well as some other random strands. I get my hair professionally colored every 7 weeks, otherwise I'm too tempted to pull them out.

Not sure...I've been starting to think about this. They're few and far between, and my hair has natural highlights, so to anyone looking at me, they don't stand out.
But, I'm starting to think about getting my hair highlighted.

I dye my hair. I had greys start noticeably popping up around 22. My recommendation is to find a good boxed color to save you a fortune on salon visits.
I use Loreal excellence and can do it myself in my bathroom. I use the same color every time and you can't tell that its dyed, especially not from a drug store box.

My mom would never let me dye my hair when i was a teen and I never did it once I got older (except highlights one summer) so I wouldn't even know where to begin! I'm too lazy!
Does pulling them out help?

I started going gray in my early 20's, but I was already getting higlights regularly which covered them up. Now that I'm 31 and my gray is much worse I also have to get low lights to completely cover them, but it does the job pretty well.

@babynumber1: thanks for this suggestion! I may try it out!

I don't have any yet...I think.
I think I'll probably leave them be bc I'm not a hair dying kinda gal.

Haven't thought much about it, but I'll probably start dying. Hopefully I can find an at home kit that looks good..... I don't want to spend the money for that.
My mom is 63 and not gray yet. She has a few, but you can barely see them in her red hair. I'm a brunette so I'm sure I'll go gray much sooner. It's also easier to dye my hair though.... there's no dye that looks like a natural red head.

I pull them right now. My mom colors her hair, while my dad rocks the greys. I haven't decided what I'll do yet when they outnumber my dark hair strands.

So my hair grows really fast during the summer & with DH in & out of the hospital, and the holiday etc.... My roots are OUT OF CONTROL! I just havent had time to get have it colored, and it's $$ which i feel bad about right now. It's supposed to get colored tonight. It needs to be colored about every 4wks to be okay, it's been twice that The top of my head is >50% gray & I'm not even 30 yet. Of course underneath doesn't have any!

I pull them out when I see them, and I get highlights, but I'm soo lazy/cheap that I only go like, once every 4-5 months. Just recently I've started to realize that I can't go this long between visits anymore! Last time I got my hair highlighted was the end of January, so I'm way overdue.

I've been coloring mine since i was 26 or so. It's really very gray, ugh. If it's just a few you could pluck then but if it's a lot then you will just have short gray hairs sticking up which will probably be more obvious. It's such a waste of time (especially post-baby) and money to get it colored but I'm too self-conscious to go without.
honeydew / 7687 posts
Umm I ignore them. I only have a few but they popped up immediately after I broke my back in college.

I only have a couple so I pull them out. When I get more ill color my hair. My aunt doesn't dye hers and my mom does, my aunt looks 15 years older even though she's only two years older.

@Mrs. Sketchbook: accepting them. Sort of. I noticed my first greys at 22, and I'm 31 now. I do get mad and pluck a few out occassionally. I also had my hairdresser for my wedding style my hair to cover up my biggest grey area. I have a pretty good streak on one side of my head. People say they don't notice. I think it's often mistaken for blond. I just refuse to dye my hair. Never have, never will. We'll see if I change my tune when the greys cover more surface area.

@Mrs. Sketchbook: I wouldn't pull them out! I tried that for a while, and now my few grey hairs are growing back and stick up at odd angles.
I was dying my hair but haven't in 5-6 months. I'm noticing the greys a lot more. I figure for now it's fine, maybe if I get a lot I'll change my mind. Highlights seem like a good idea.
pomegranate / 3113 posts
I'm too lazy to deal with upkeep so I just let mine be. I have quite a few, they started popping up when I was in my late 20s and got noticeably more in the past year (I'm 31 now). But they're pretty evenly spread out, so I just call them free highlights :). I'd prefer to go grey naturally, but if there comes a point when it looks truly hideous, I'll reassess.
pomelo / 5469 posts
I started getting mine in my late twenties and mostly they just blend in to my blonde hair... however there are a few along my parting that seem to be really wavy and stand straight up, so I tend to pull those out!
pear / 1823 posts
I started getting them in my early 20s. I dye my hair as close as possible to my natural color. I have a lot of grey now, though, so soon my "natural" color will be grey!
watermelon / 14467 posts
My hair is virgin, and I've never really been into dying it since it's so dark. I'll probably just let them be unless it gets to the point where it just looks bad, like @PurplePeony.

Oh my gosh, I have NO idea... My mom and dad are completely grey at 54 and they've been grey for awhile!
I'm allergic to hair dye so I think I'll just have to rock the grey hair
honeydew / 7444 posts
@Mrs. Sketchbook: No, pulling it out doesn't help!!
I am 32 and i've always had a problem with white hairs. I find that getting a good haircut with layers and dyeing it helps.

I've only got a few and I pull them out when I see them. Once they start coming in fast and furious I'm probably just going to leave them and hope for the "sophisticated silver" look.
eggplant / 11824 posts
I have too many to pull so I've been coloring my hair for a long time. I used to pay to get it done, but I do a great job on my own and it only takes about an hour from start to finish and is a fraction of the price of the salon.

I have dark hair and good genes , my first grays only popped up last year and I still have only 3 or 4. Right now I am letting them be, but will color at home with a semi permanent dye.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
28 and they are popping up everywhere...sigh thank goodness my sister is a hair stylist. I cover those puppies up & pull if I find a bad one.
pomegranate / 3105 posts
I've been salt and pepper since I was 18 (thanks mom). I just used a boxed dye because the salon is so expensive. I don't care if the shades are different, I always need some kind of change so it's either dying it or chopping it like a crazy woman lol
pear / 1799 posts
@Mrs. Sketchbook: Same here. I feel like each is a sign of wisdom. My mom keeps telling me you don't feel old until your first gray pube. Oh goodness!

I've been graying since I was 16, and it's quickly becoming a moot point. I am beginning to get salt-and-pepper temples and they are scattered throughout the rest of my hair. I'm only 26 with black hair, but alas, I follow after my great-grandmother who was completely snow white by the time she was 40. This is my path. I'm beginning to become comfortable with the idea of just letting it go instead of dying it every 3 weeks, especially now that I'm pregnant and cannot dye it as much.
nectarine / 2085 posts
Ignoring them? I am not philosophically opposed to dye, but keeping up with it just seems like another time-sink I don't need in my life. I rather like the look of silver hair, and I think that's what I'm getting.

I am enjoying pointing them out (because Mr. T is the only one at our house who has any yet )! I tease him that all us girls are making him grey. The funniest part is that he is MUCH more vain than I am. He is totally thinking about dying his hair, and I doubt I'll do a thing to mine when it starts to grey.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
I have quite a bit. I come from a family of early grayers. I started at 18, and by 23 I have a new one every day. I dye my hair about 2-3x a year.

I had my first grey in my early 20s no thanks to genes on my dad's side. I've highlighted once or twice but way too much maintenance, also have dyed it but right now au naturale is easiest!

My mother "conditions" her hair with henna. It's just a "side effect" that it colors and covers all her gray. Which is why she spends extra time looking for the right blend of henna (you can get them in a lot of different shades) or specially mixes a couple different colors of henna....
(keep in mind that hair treated with henna will be much more difficult to dye with other hair dyes)
