I didn't get my BFP last week so hoping May will be my month. I've been reading about different kinds of food that may help. Anyone doing anything different this cycle?

Temping, checking cervical mucus and position.
Now that I know my left side ovulated late, I can plan around my fertile week.

I just added fish oil to my routine. It's supposed to help with cervical mucus and to regulate hormones, etc. We'll see what happens.

Other than slightly altering my technique for inseminations, I'm taking vitamin d because my levels were low. Also I'm going to add pineapple core to my daily smoothIes after o. Also I'm staying away from a lot of sugar, adding protein, and adding coconut oil.

I started acupuncture. I'm also going to start cutting down on refined sugars (It's going to be hard!).

@auggiefrog: it's so hard! I had to turn down a milkshake paid for by my office today. So sad. But I listened to a podcast about how sugar can affect your fertility, and it made it so much easier to stick with it. I haven't been perfect, but I've cut down a lot! It'll be worth it, right?

Metformin, clomid, and progesterone, all due to a new PCOS diagnosis.... trying to cut down on the sugar as well, since insulin resistance is related to PCOS and sugar throws everything off, I guess.... bummer!

@LoveHope: i just added raspberry red leaf tea and stopped drinking almond milk or anything low fat as ive read a lot bout this and it affects ttc

@Emilia80: I just read something about that too this week. I only have almond milk and low fat yogurts and I read it's not good for you when ttc. Who knew?! I'm switching over to regular milk. I've also heard eating pineapple core helps but it should only be eaten once you ovulate. Lots of luck to u this cycle!

@2farmmoms: I've never eaten pineapple core before but I read it's good for you especially during ovulation. We'll see what happens. I'm wondering if I should start the vitamin d. I'm taking prenatal vitamins and thought I was getting my vitamin d from there.

@auggiefrog: I've heard wonderful things about acupuncture for fertility. I may need to try it!

@LoveHope: I've been doing acupuncture since November and although, I'm not pregnant yet, it's helped with my stress levels! It's so relaxing and I look forward to it each week
As far as the pineapple core, you are supposed to eat it only for the 5 days after ovulation. It's to help with implantation, I think.

@Emilia80: I'm curious - what is wrong with almond milk? I am trying to find an alternative to regular milk and was going to go with almond, but if it affects fertility, I don't want to. I'm also staying away from soy as I heard that can affect fertility.

@NorthStar: I'm not sure if almond milk in particular affects ttc but I just know that anything low fat ( which almond milk is) affects fertility. All diary must be full fat. Nothing low fat should be part of your diet when ttc. From all the research I've read. Milk being the number 1 factor. I was drinking skinny milk with my coffee and almond milk with my shakes. I switched to
Full fat until I get my bfp. Not happy about the extra calories but worth it for a bfp.

@Emilia80: completely agree! This is something new I've read recently and couldn't believe it. I've been doing all the wrong things. We all learn a little something as each month passes.

@auggiefrog: Acupuncture totally worked for me.
The month I got pregnant, I stopped temping, stopped taking special vitamins/supplements. We did continue to use Preseed. I ADDED in fertility acupuncture (I was previously doing acupuncture for anxiety reduction). Bam. Pregnant.

DH and I are both taking 300mg of ubiquinol (the bio-available form of CoQ10, so it equates to 600mg of CoQ10). DH has stopped using his laptop in his lap. DH's changes won't affect his sperm for 3 months, but every bit counts!

@ValentineMommy: that's awesome! Never tried acupuncture but I just made an appointment. Thank you for the info.

@ballerinabee: every little change helps. We all learn a little something new each cycle. My husband has also increased his antioxidants last month. We started using Gogi berries which are a superfood!

@LoveHope: I can't recommend it enough. It also REALLY reduced my anxiety and general overall body "tightness" (from stress). I really think it's what helped us get pregnant this time.

I'm going up to 100mg Clomid this cycle - really hoping it does the trick!

I do think that acupuncture is what helped us get pregnant the last two times. Before that, we weren't getting anything. Even though we lost those two, I still think it helped.

@LoveHope: I know!! It's amazing what u learn. I also read that skim milk has far more sugar than whole milk and it's worse for u!!! All This time thinking I was opting for the better source yet I've been tricked!!!! From now on it whole milk and whole dairy for me. Pregnant or not !

I tried Inositol supplements this time around, along with my usual coq10 while doing IVF. Otherwise, same protocol FET as normal.

@2farmmoms: So far I'm totally failing at it. I just bought a bag of chocolates at Target and scarfed down. I really need to do better.
@ValentineMommy: That's great to hear!
My acupuncturist also mentioned something about not eating low fat or non fat yogurt. (It's pretty much the only dairy I eat). I went into Target today and I couldn't even find one that was whole fat. Maybe I'll have more luck at a grocery store.

@auggiefrog: I know! it's really hard. I have good days and bad. If you're interested, I can try to find a link to the podcast. It really hit home for me for some reason. I've switched to all whole milk dairy as well. Yum! Actually, just two weeks ago we joined a local herd share so we are getting raw milk straight from the source every week. I love it. I'm making my own yogurt, kefir, cream cheese, sour cream and when I have enough milk, I make a ball of mozzarella. So fun. Of course, it's all whole milk so I feel good about all of the dairy. I'll worry about all of the calories some other time. I figure they're healthier than sugar calories at least. My midwives told me to eat more healthy fats and proteins, so I'm working on it!

@Emilia80: agreed! You try and make healthier choices but sometimes they aren't the best for fertility. The only thing we can do is move forward.

@2farmmoms: Sure, post it! Maybe it will give me the encouragement I need!

@auggiefrog: if you go to the site lezbemommies.com and scroll down, the podcast on sugar is #39. I couldn't find a direct link. The podcast isn't great quality, but it has a lot of good information. It's mostly about lesbians trying to conceive, but a lot of the info is useful to anyone.

@LoveHope: honestly I don't know enough about it to say, but from what I've read, whole milk and whole milk dairy products like yogurt are far more nutritious. Something about the processing takes most of the good stuff from the milk out when they make it low fat (even 2%). I'll try to find the article and post it.

@LoveHope: I've also heard ice cream helps with ttc. So yesterday I went to maccas and got a double choc sundae mmmmmm any excuse to eat ice cream lol

I'm reading the book The Fertility Diet and it also mentions eating full-fat dairy while TTC as well as other foods etc. that are linked to helping with ovulation.
I'm going to try temping this month, mostly as a way to see whether or not I'm ovulating. My periods have been a bit wonky since coming off BC, but now this is my 5th cycle after stopping BC so hopefully I'll start getting into a regular pattern!
