I am not posting this AT anyone- I really am not anti screen time at all, its just worked best for us to be low screen time. And I'm proud of it. I'm proud that I SAH with a 5 1/2 year old and a 2 year old and they play independently most of the day (I rarely play- I read books, set up crafts, take them on hikes, etc- but playtime is all them), and the 5 year old only watches t.v. once a week. I worked really hard to establish routines and create play spaces and to take them outside a lot and its actually worked how I hoped it would.
There's a lot that I will always second guess and doubt myself on, but this is one area of parenting where I feel like I've done a really good job.

I am really proud of how calmly I handle challenges. I was really worried when my daughter was just born, because I generally had a short temper and was definitely a yeller, but through a lot of work on myself, I have really gained a sense of calm that, while isn't perfect, is miles ahead of where I was. I notice it even more now because my husband, who's not at all confrontational, gets really impatient with certain things and begins to raise his voice, and I've been stepping it to try and be the calm one, which is a huge role reversal and I'm really proud of having made that shift.

I got roped into managing a Code Camp at work. I found curriculum, modified it for adults, organized volunteer teachers, got Zoom calls set up so for remote folks and my first class had over 100 people in it! We got tons of rave reviews and I hope the class tomorrow goes as well

Also we had a horrific weekend of family events that involved three states, three airports, six cities, dressing my kids (and us) in formal clothes three days straight, driving 4.5 hours one day, 3 another, and sleeping in a strange house with only 1 non-throw pillow for 4 people. We survived and my parents have agreed Thanksgiving will be at my house

@Silva: You should do a guest blog post on this I would be super proud of being able to do that!

I’m proud that I have created what is right now a good work-life balance without much input from my husband (who has no work-life balance). I work about 42.5 hours per week, and I’ve come to terms with the fact that my house will never be perfect and that I need to prep super simple dinners during this phase of life and I’m not concerned about it at all.

@Silva: we're a no screen time house (well except tiny bits for homeschooling now) and I've worked up to my kids playing by themselves too. I love it when I get to look over and see them immersed in their own thing. Ds1 didn't really start playing by himself till after age 3 so I really appreciate it.

I am proud that even though I've had a cold this week, my house is still reasonable and we have gotten to our homeschool work this week so far.

I'm proud of sitting down and doing weekly homework assignments with my four year old most weeknights, 30 minutes or even longer! This commitment is surprising after working a full day and sitting through a long commute, plus dinner and bath time routine for both LOs. We recently enrolled her into a language school on the weekends so that she can be fully bilingual and speak her grandparents' native language. It's a lot more homework and dedication than I thought, but it's really important to us that I've made it a priority. Not only is she learning but it's uninterrupted 1:1 time which we rarely have most weekdays. Luckily she doesn't have *real* school homework yet!

I am not proud of a whole lot lately, it seems at times that we are barely hanging on, and SO MUCH could stand to be improved (marriage, parenting, work, house). But, because you prompted me to think about it, I will say that I am proud of how flexible my kid is. I. Am. Not. And I was so hoping that he would naturally be a go with the flow personality. He IS - which is especially something for a toddler I feel! Now I cant really take credit for it but I am proud of him every time I see him adapt to a new situation with a smile!

I’m proud of myself for trying to step out of my comfort zone. I’m a new SAHM and am pretty introverted, but I volunteered to help in my son’s preschool once a week and went to a “meet the parents” lunch at preschool, even though I’m awkward and small talk with strangers makes me want to die.

Religiously flossing and brushing my kids teeth twice a day.. Its such a little thing but it is so ingrained into them now and hopefully they will have much better dental hygiene than I have!

@Mrsbells: That is NOT a small thing. We brush once a day and haven’t even started flossing yet so .... I’d be proud too!!!!!!

@MrsSRS: So sorry to hear that. Seems like you are truly handling all the transitions very well. Not sure I could say the same for myself in a similar situation. Sending you strength to carry on!

My patience and ability to stay unruffled. My 2nd LO loves to throw tantrums anytime anywhere and I've been able to stay super calm, unruffled while throwing said child on my shoulders and keep walking in public places

I'm proud of how diligent I've been about DS's speech therapy and getting him services. We've had lots of setbacks, getting evaluated and qualified for services that he never received, driving through rush hour to get to his appts at a different agency, and getting him qualified and receiving services through the district the moment he turned 3. I am proud of that especially since I had so many people telling me to just wait and I was pregnant. DS has made HUGE strides so it's all been worth it.

I've been thinking about an answer for this since it was posted. I am proud of my husband and son obviously, but that was an easy answer. So honestly, I'm proud that I was able to nut up and ask my dr to raise my zoloft dose. I'm high strung, I operate on an insane level of anxiety riddled neurosis when things are going good. But my husband has had some health scares, my work is going through major changes, working towards guardianship/adoption of a family member, we're a year and a half into TTC #2; all things that make me extra neurotic by themselves and they're happening all together. I wrote and rewrote that e-mail at least 10 times to my doctor. Good thing is, I'm already feeling better after just over a week.

I'm proud that I am taking on a role that makes me really uncomfortable, but I am doing really well in it. I can feel my balloon inflating at each event and speech, and it is sort of strangely awesome.

@Mrsbells: me too! It's one of the few things I'm doing right. I've got horrible teeth, and if I can help the kids keep theirs healthy I'll consider that an accomplishment. Of course, I'm their Exhibit A of what can go wrong - if they try to slack off with the brushing, I just open my mouth and let them see all my fillings

I'm proud of keeping DH and the kids fed and sane this summer while MIL was dying. Mostly sane anyway, I think we still haven't really processed all the feelings, because you can't stop and feel stuff with the kids around. But at least we got through this without anyone getting dropped off at the wrong camp, or leaving the house in the morning with no pants, or coming home to no dinner in the fridge.
