@Bao: If you're looking for fantasy, I'd highly suggest Brent Week's Night Angel series (book 1: The Way of Shadows) or his Lightbinder series (book 1: The Black Prism) OR Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn series (book 1: Mistborn: The Final Empire).
