@edelweiss: I found it slower than his other books, but I did enjoy it. I was more aware of it being nonfiction and obviously knew the outcome, so some of the set up and character introduction felt lengthy. I'm also not sure what President Wilson's seemingly irrelevant love story was doing in the book. Once the ship had set sail though, it was compelling and quick moving.

@edelweiss: I also like Daughter of Fortune and Ines of my Soul. Tried to read zorro, but wasn't into it.

@MediaNaranja: I own SO MANY mountaineering books, I totally went through this. If you're interested when I get home I'll take a look at my shelf and see what else is really good (have you read The Climb, Anatoli Boukreev's version of the events of Into Thin Air?)

@erinbaderin: I haven't read that one, I'll have to see if my library has it! And yes, I'd love a list of other good titles to check out!! I'm glad I'm not the only weirdo that's really into the topic

@MediaNaranja: I just realized I never did this! Sorry about the delay! Here's what I've got on my shelf:

    Everest Exposed by George Band
    Eiger Dreams by Jon Krakauer
    High Exposure by David Brashears
The Other Side of Everest by Matt Dickinson (he was climbing the North Face during the 1996 storm)
    Dead Lucky by Lincoln Hall
    Dark Summit by Rick Heil
    High Crimes by Michael Kodas
Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer
    High Adventure by Edmund Hilary
Touching My Father's Soul by Jamling Norgay
Touching the Void by Joe Simpson
Forever on the Mountain by James Tabor
No Shortcut to the Top by Ed Viesturs
The Boys of Everest by Clint Willis
    The Climb by Anatoli Boukreev

    I told you I had a problem!

@erinbaderin: Thank you! I'll add those to my list! No Shortcuts to the Top was what started my obsession. I currently have The Climb and High Exposure out from the library, and am currently reading The Lost Explorer by Conrad Anker. I watched Touching the Void last week, and I'd like to read the book! Have you watched Meru? I watched it a few weeks ago and thought it was so good!

I clearly also have a problem Perhaps I find it so fascinating because it's something I will NEVER EVER do but so wish that I could!!
