Just finished the book "everything I never told you" by Celeste Ng. I am still thinking about that book and the characters and how it could relate to me. Have you read any books lately that hit you like that? And now I need a new book to read

I'm following this for suggestions, haha. Lately I've been so tired (transition to crib is a bear!) and have just been downloading kindle samples and not finishing whole books! One of the samples I've been trying to start is Still Alice. I heard it was sad but good.

Haven't read it yet but I plan on downloading Fresh off the Boat for my trip this weekend.

This book definitely doesn't relate to my life, but I have not been able to stop reading/thinking about The Girl on The Train. If you liked Gone Girl, you will LOVE it.

Have you guys read Wonder? It's really taken off in book clubs I habe heard. (My BFF is a librarian so I get good recommendations constantly).
Wonder is an easy YA book that would be perfect to read without needing a ton of attention. Plus it stays with you!

I read Blackberry Winter by Sarah Jio, and enjoyed it! I also finished Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty (I think?) and thought it was really good, too.

@lavender: I just finished that too! I liked it but wish there was more....it seemed a little lacking to me.
@JennyG: I read Girl on the Train and was disappointed! I loved Gone Girl and I felt like GOTT was too predictable...

I'm reading the Maze Runner series. I just finished Book 2 - The Scorch Trials, and I'm waiting for my turn for Book 3 - The Death Cure. I think I'm still #14 or so on the waiting list.
In the interim, I've picked up Malcolm Gladwell's David & Goliath.

@lavender: You intrigued me. I just placed a hold on this book - sounds good! Have you ever read anything by Lisa See? I'm wondering if you might like Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, I really enjoyed that one - http://www.amazon.com/Flower-Secret-Random-Readers-Reading-ebook/dp/B0067AHWCG/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1426041745&sr=1-1&keywords=snow+flower+and+the+secret+fan

@soyjoy222: @LibbyLou: those are in my queue!
@Mrs. High Heels: I was a fan of this series since I liked the Divergent and Hunger Games. The Legend Trilogy is another similar series. I'm with ya about being 14. I love these books and any YA books really. Ha! I really liked/maybe loved Archer's Voice and This is Falling.
I just finished reading the Stage Dive series and Bared to You. Liked Stage Dive, not so much on Bared to You. Kept dragging too much. I'm reading one off books now to redeem my inner teenager so I'm currently reading My Life Next Door.

@lavender: I just read that book. When I started I knew the premise so I made myself not connect with the characters like I typically do. I didn't want to be up at 3am, crying my eyes. out. Great book, though!!
I am almost finished with The Boston Girl. OMG. The author's voice in this book is amazing. Anita Diamant.

@Mrs. High Heels: have you read her other books? I loved On Gold Mountain and Shanghai Girls. I'll have to try that one, too. A friend of mine is waiting for me to read China Dolls, she said it was amazing.

@hotchildinthecity: I was totally thinking of reading that next. I used to love to read his blog and I finally got a chance to watch the show this past week.

@mediagirl: I knew the premise and I still got emotionally invested. I read on the train and I was trying not cry!
@hotchildinthecity: I have that book on hold,#23 on the wait list.
@Mrs. High Heels: thanks! I'll have to borrow it again bc I think I actually started it but never finished it bc I took to long and the library loan ended. But now I know the secret to keeping the book on my kindle after the loan ends

@jaguar: Love that whole series. I haven't read it lately (and it'll probably be a while because I don't think I could handle all the feels while pregnant) but I'll have to add it to my last to read again!

Trashy alert I'm on the 4th book in the Jackie Collin's series about Lucky. It's rather addicting really, I'm enjoying it. They are easy reads and great for my prego brain that is on overload.

@JennyG: I just put a hold on that! I'm #474 out of 119 copies though, so I guess it'll be a while...
I've been working my way through Tana French's Dublin Murder Squad series and just downloaded Broken Harbor. Really good literary crime novels. Just finished Kate Atkinson's One Good Turn, which would fall in that same category also, though I didn't enjoy it as much as its prequel Case Histories.
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@Alivoo01: I like those types of books too! Loved Hunger Games, and I really liked Divergent books 1 and 2, but I heard so many negative reviews about book 3 that I didn't even read it (though I own it and should just go on and finish it already!). I'll have to check out The Legend trilogy!
@lavender: Same! Love that there's no urgency to rush through a loaned book anymore.
@mediagirl: Yes, I've read Shanghai Girls (and the 2nd part of that book... Dreams of Joy)... really enjoyed them both! I've never read On Gold Mountain or China Dolls. I'll check them out - seems like Lisa See's books haven't failed me yet!

@MrsKoala: I just downloaded that book this morning. Hope it's not a tearjerker.

Right now I'm reading Galapagos Regained...it started a little slow, but I am really enjoying it now! I also read a short story collection I really liked, called "Hall of Small Mammals." If you like non-fiction I've also recently read Three Minutes in Poland and Paper Love, both holocaust memoirs. Others that I've read lately that I loved: The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert and The First 15 Lives of Harry August by Claire North.

@lavender: I'm almost half way through and it's not a tearjerker yet.. we'll see though. Circumstances are pointing in that direction.

@Mrs. High Heels: Book 3 is good, just the ending is absolutely terrible. Like make you want to pull your hair out and scream from the roof tops with anger and frustration kind of terrible. haha

@Alivoo01: That is the worst way to end a book!! But okay, I'll read it anyway, I guess I'm a sucker for punishment.

@Mrs. High Heels: Read The Testing. It is YA and I loved it. Maybe more than Divergent and the Hunger Games.
