@pregnantbee: Well, I bought eyeshadow too, so I was just like, "What's another $5.95?" I'm treating myself, so I didn't think too hard about the shipping.

@avivoca: Haha. If you have other Stila recs, I'm listening

@pregnantbee: I bought two since they are so cheap right now. And got a brush to go with it. Agree though that $6 shipping for an $8 item is hard to swallow.

@pregnantbee: I don't really, I've been using drugstore makeup since I had to throw everything out last summer. But the price was good, so I'll let you know!

@SweetiePie: Well, I have never used the product so don't want to get 2 if I don't know yet if I like it But I'm eyeing the lip stain....

@avivoca: I think I've used something Stila before but can't remember what. Haha!

@pregnantbee: yeah I figured if I love it I'll have two. If I don't I'll pawn it off on my sister or mom 😉

@LibbyLou: you can add me to the list that ordered the blush thanks!

@Winterbabies: For a drugstore option, I like L'Oreal Lumi concealer. For a department store option, MAC Pro Longwear concealer is great. Also really great is the Graftobian Hi-Lite Contour (it's a palette of 5 colors). There are a few others too, like Anastasia, but Anastasia is a drier cream, and works well with oilier skin. All of these are Creme formulas and only work with liquid foundation; you would not want to put a cream concealer/highlight over a powder foundation.

Anyone care to share pictures of their handiwork?

@ladybee: OK, hilarious. I just looked at my eye shadow, and I have Stila in Kitten. LOL. And the one I wear daily, except more as a liner with the use of water, is Twig. Love both, though I sometimes feel like Kitten is a little too sparkly for me.

@pwnstar: Uh, where are you again? Baby girl has stolen my memory. Ha!

  16. ladybee

@pregnantbee: oh I'll have to look up twig!

@ladybee: It looks better in person than the digital swatch online. I have grey/blue eyes, so I think it helps bring them out.

Bumping this up...I've been doing my concealer as indicated in the photo, but I am not seeing any kind of difference, to be honest...I feel like I am missing some critical part of the process.

I make a series of dots under the eye, and then I made the v shape with the criss crossed lines in the center. I used my finger to kind of tap and blend. Is this right?

  20. pwnstar

    pear / 1718 posts

@looch: What you don't see in the photo is how the concealer is blended . . . I like to blend mine all the way out under my eyes right to my temple. Here is a tutorial where you see a MA blend her concealer out like I describe (and how she balances the rest of her face too). You'll notice how much brighter and more lifted everything looks when the concealer is blended outward:

@pwnstar: thank you for posting the video! I am going to watch it tonight when i have some time.

I wonder if I also need a highlighter!

Concealer for the dark circles, high lighter to make me look awake and blush to make me look alive. Also drink a ton of water and use cream makeup instead of powder!

@pwnstar: Alright, so I have been watching videos and the common theme is that I don't use enough product. I use very little and I think that's actually the biggest issue, since there's not enough to blend, I am just applying it and then basically taking it off again with my fingers.

highlighter in the inner corners of your eyes. life changing!

  27. pwnstar

    pear / 1718 posts

@Crystal: This one is a little long (she chats a bunch in it), BUT, her tip for where the wing should go is awesome! Also, I like that her wing isn't super dramatic (because as cool as that is, it's not practical for every day . . . at least not for me!):

@pwnstar: I have fallen deep into the rabbit hole of YouTube...as a result, I've now ordered a beauty blender, a knock off Artis brush to apply foundation and I've visited Sephora twice in the last week to buy products, lol.

I bought a peach corrector to combat the bluish undereye circles, I put that under the concealer and I really can't believe the difference it makes.

  30. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@pwnstar: I started doing the triangles with my concealer and I cannot BELIEVE the difference it makes! I look so good!

  31. pwnstar

    pear / 1718 posts

@looch: That is awesome! So glad you found something that worked for you . . . I mean, if you're going to go to the trouble of highlighting and/or concealing, you might as well get the full benefit! And most just need a couple of tweaks to really make it work for them.

@avivoca: So happy for you! The best part is how great you feel about how great you work . . . every little bit helps!

  32. looch

    wonderful pear / 26210 posts

@pwnstar: Yes, I think the biggest thing is accepting that I need to make some changes. I had to invest a little bit of time and money to find things that worked. In the past, when I was younger, it didn't really matter, everything worked. But now as I have aged, I've come to realize that I need different formulations and products.

  33. Adira

@looch: What peach corrector did you buy? I need something like that.

@Adira: I tried several, the Sephora branded one is sold out, the Urban Decay was too pricy so I ended up with this one ,the Cover FX Correct Click:

@snowjewelz: I know, right? I use a few dots and no wonder I wasn't getting coverage.

  38. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@looch: I am still scared of putting that much on my face! I've been wanting to get that stiple foundation brush for so long, maybe it's time to go for it.

  39. pwnstar

    pear / 1718 posts

@snowjewelz: The Sigma F80 brush (the one Jaclyn Hill uses in the video)? It is AWESOME. Seriously. And it really doesn't take much product to cover your entire face. Which is key when you're layering products!

@pwnstar: Are you a makeup artist? Have you tried the Artis brushes?
