Do you like it?
I'm looking for something just so I can get some things done around the house while carrying LO around, and for trips out without the stroller.
There are SO many of them out there I can't figure this out!

We have a moby and an ergo. When she was a newborn I loved the moby for its closeness and versatility. DH thought the moby was too girly, so he always preferred the ergo. Now we both use the ergo, super comfy, we love it.

We have the Ergo. LOVED it. Used it until LO was ~13 months old.

Ergo! So much easier on the back than other carriers I tried, and my girls loved it.

We have a mei tai wrap, Korean podaegi wrap, and Mamas & Papas carrier. Wish we would've bought an Ergo but we rec'd the Mamas & Papas as a gift so just used that. I like them all, but am not totally in love with any of them.

We just got a Beco Gemini and love it so far! I like that forward facing is an option. We also have a Moby, but LO hated it.

I have an Ergo and a Baby K'tan that I never got the hang of!
grapefruit / 4049 posts
we've had a Bjorn (I don't recommend it!), a Moby, a Hotslings, an Ergo and a Beco Gemini. I highly recommend the Ergo and Beco Gemini, with a slight preference for the Ergo! Still using my Gemini on my almost 15 month old however...
If I were to get another though, I'd get the new Boba Air

a moby, podaegi (korean baby wrap), a baby sling, and will buy an ergo!

@HabesBabe: Ooh you did get it?!? Yay ;);)
We have a beco and love it! The maya ring sling was my fav for 2-6 months.

We have an Infantino carrier that DH loves, a Seven sling, a Moby wrap and a K'tan. DS hares the sling (and barely fits anyway, no real give to the fabric), I got really annoyed with the Moby (fabric on the floor, trouble getting him in comfortably, more trouble getting him OUT). I just got the K'tan, and DS and I both like it so far. Much easier to put on, and comfortable to wear. It's not one size fits all, though...I got a small and there's no way it would fit my tall husband. Just a thought if you're looking for something you can both use.

I have both a Ktan and Ergo and love them both.
I love the Ktan for wearing around the house because I can sit while wearing it. The Ergo goes around your hips, so it's not as easy to sit.
LO is still only 8 lbs so I don't know how I'll feel about using the Ktan once she's heavier.

We were handed down a Moby wrap (loved it for the first 3 months), a Baby Bjorn (so uncomfortable all around), an Infantino front and back (too much like the bjorn), and an Ergo (I love, Sawyer hates). I have a regular tube sling (OK, but not my favourite) and a ring sling (me and Sawyer both LOVE to death). I would recommend borrowing as many carriers as you can get your hands on, so you can find the best fit (or find a baby wearing shop once you have your baby, and figure it out together).

@chopsuey119: just curious, why did you stop using the ergo at 13 months? My LO is 14 months and she is getting a bit tall to do a front carry but I am trying to get her used to a back carry.
We also tried a sling but she didn't like it.
hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts
@Thehistoryofus: We just stopped going out for extended periods, and when we did go out, LO preferred to walk or it was just easier to put her in the umbrella stroller. I'm sure she'd love to be strapped onto one of us even now (18 months old)..
Also, I got pregnant right after LO turned 1, so didn't feel comfortable putting the Ergo on, even though I probably could have

I have the ergobaby (sport) carrier but I'm too short for it so I'm going to return it and get a smaller one or a different brand. I do love the hip strap soft carriers--so much easier on the back.
The baby bjorn carrier worked great when LO was newborn (he was 8lbs+), and the pouch sling worked great once LO could hold up his head. They do make bjorn carriers that have the hip strap--and those ones are great! Of course mine is the kind that gives you a backache now that LO is 17 pounds.

Blue Celery sling-wrap-hybrid
and
Ergo (starting at 4 months, which was good because my boy is heavy, but I still use my blue celery, especially if we're out and I need him to go to sleep!)

We have 3: Ergo sport, Seven sling, baby bjorn
My favorite is the ergo sport, i love carrying my baby on my back in this. I can be cooking or doing dishes and she is comfortably on my back and usually goes right to sleep. The bad thing about this is you have to wait until baby is atleast about 4 months old to use it. If you want to use it sooner you need to buy the separate insert. I really tried to like the insert but ended up returning it.
I received the baby born carrier used as a gift. I know its not the best for the babies hips and it doesnt even look comfortable for them but my babyliked it and would always sleep in it too. I think its best for younger smaller babies but after about 30- 40 minutes of using it I get super achy
The sling by seven slings is just useless, I really tried to like it, I got it for free and only had to pay for shipping but the fabric isnt great and its not adjustable so its quite hard to use.

I have a Moby and an Ergo. I stopped using the Moby when she hit about 15lbs because it started to hurt my back but I loved it when she was a newborn. The Ergo was the opposite for me. I hated it when she was smaller but now she's 20lbs and I love it.
I really want a Beco Gemini.

2 ergos! both home and out, but mostly out.
Tried the moby and just wasn't practical for us with the long piece of fabric. Currently trying the k'tan for home, but am probably sending it back. I got the right size for my measurements/current size, but the babes don't feel very secure up top.

We have a Boba wrap and a Lillebaby Everywear. Both have worked out pretty well for us.
cantaloupe / 6146 posts
@Mrsbells: I have the same carriers as you!
Have you tried the seven slings pouch sling again since LO got bigger? I love the hip carry now that he's big enough but hated the newborn carry. I like that carrier because it's so small I can bring it with me just in case I want to carry him.
squash / 13199 posts
@pastemoo: Yeah I did try it recently. I am 5ft 11 so I don't know if ite because of my height, maybe I didnt order the right size, but its just either too loose or too tight and my baby starts makin faces and cries because she isnt comfortable. I think I would have preferred a ring sling like the maya,

We have a Beco Gemini and a Peanut Shell sling. Can't wait to use them soon!
grapefruit / 4400 posts
@Coco Bee: I did! We took it to the beach yesterday. The lack of a sleeping hood kinda blows, but I just put a hat on her I'm sure there's a way to DIY one, but I'm not crafty.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@HabesBabe: yeah... we use an A&A blanket draped over his head
cantaloupe / 6146 posts
@Mrsbells: Maybe. I'm only 5'0..... also he didn't like it at first but as I have lost more weight the sling fits much much better. Now would I prefer a nicer sling? TOTALLY. But for the $12... it is pretty good. I can take him in the grocery store or a walk but wouldn't take him in that pouch sling all day.@HabesBabe: I'm sure I could figure out a way to make a hood for you. I have not used the hood on my ergo more than once because I couldn't reach the snaps (they are behind my back!)
grapefruit / 4400 posts
@pastemoo: omg that would be awesome! I was going to try to McGeyver something, but decided against it. LOL.

We loved our Ergo and it was one of our most used baby items ever!
pear / 1610 posts
We have a moby wrap and beco gemini... I loved the moby for the first few months and really love the beco. We are just starting to use it for the back carry but used it a lot with a front carry both facing in and out depending on LO's mood.
honeydew / 7917 posts
I love our Ergo and used it from the beginning with an infant insert. My LO is 17 months old and still fits inside comfortably. Of course he would rather run around and doesn't stay in for long.
grapefruit / 4056 posts
@cvbee: Yeah, I was gifted/handed down all but 2 of them. I keep thinking I should get rid of the bjorn and infantino carriers, and just keep the moby, ergo and slings.

@HabesBabe: http://www.becobabycarrier.com/cat-15/parts
They make hooks for a hood. Is that the same carrier? It would be not-too-hard to use these (and D-rings if yours doesn't have it) to attach the hood.
grapefruit / 4400 posts
@pastemoo: those hooks are actually for the head support thingy... it's like a flap that goes up and down to help younger babies hold up their heads. you can see it up in that picture the model i have doesn't have those hooks/d-rings anymore, but a plastic snap.
http://www.becobabycarrier.com/cat-17/gemini-LE
you can kinda see it on her shoulders.

Wow lots of votes for the Ergo! And a few I still hadn't heard of! Haha.
@Pastemoo I'm surprised about the seven slings! Maybe one day I'll give it a shot (but LO is only about 8 lbs now.)

we have the beco gemini and ergo. i'm only 5 feet, so i love the beco gemini. the ergo feels really big on me, but we kept it so my husband can use it.

We have the Bjorn, moby and a seven slings.
Moby was great when she was tiny, especially around the house, she would fall asleep.
Bjorn we have used for a while now, and LO loves it facing forward, but now that she's 17 lbs it kills my back after 5 minutes.
@pastemoo: I'm with you on the side carry with the seven slings sling, it's so portable and LO likes that she can look around.
I'd like to get a nice ring sling, has anyone used ring slings with older babies 6 months+ Just wondering if it's worth it?
