What items would you absolutely not buy used from a stranger? Or would you never buy anything used from a stranger?

Probably just a car seat. Everything else I would totally get second hand I think. For cribs etc I would just buy a new mattress and use the used crib.
Imagine if everyone bought everything new! Yikes!

For safety reasons - carseat and mattress. For hygiene or urgh factor reasons - breast pump, nose frida, towels.... I think that's it to be fair, I love second hand stuff!

Car seat and mattress, we bought a lot of other items used (stroller, cot bed, bouncy seat, toys). I ended up buying a lot of clothes new but that was mostly for convenience and lack of time.

I agree with others. Carseat and crib mattress I would not buy used. I would also wouldn't want a used breast pump but lots of people use them.

Car seat and a crib mattress I wouldn't buy used. I would buy a closed system breast pump only.

Like the others, car seat and crib mattress, breast pump, fabric/cloth toys that can't be washed easily.

Carseat, mattress, anything I couldn't clean easily. I love second-hand!

Car seat, stroller, mattress, anything I can't just easily throw into the wash to disinfect. I also wouldn't buy or borrow board books at her age (maybe when she's over sticking everything in her mouth).
I'd buy used clothes, especially sweaters, jackets and shoes since they don't get much wear at a young age. But when it's time for her to actually need shoes, I'd likely just buy them since all the used ones are well, used looking.

Car seat and crib mattress. I would have said breast pump, but mine was actually used by both of my SsIL (I bought new flanges, tubing, etc for it).

I wouldn't do second hand car seat or mattress.
From a stranger/Craigslist I wouldn't do anything that couldn't go in the washing machine or be easily cleaned (I work at a residential facility and am terrified of bed bugs).

Anything made of fabric that I couldn't clean easily (bed bugs!): mattress, fabric toys that aren't machine washable, pack n play mattress, bassinet, co-sleeper etc.

Carseat, crib mattress, breast pump and maybe any soft toys or stuffed animals I could wash first.

Car seat, crib mattress and crib. My friend's aunt really wanted to give me a twenty year old mattress and I felt like a jerk for saying no!

Basically anything I can't machine wash or hose down.
And no carseat.
