We have some of the bigger mega blocks.
Growing up though we had all sorts of fun stuff like Lincoln Logs, Tinker Toys, little legos, and duplos.
She really doesn't play with the mega blocks but I would like to maybe pick one or two sets and build a collection. Thoughts on pros/cons?

My son is into mega blocks and duplo, but only because he is really into trains and we have the railroad.

We have Duplos and regular Legos (the bigger Lego pieces fit together with the Duplos so I wanted to stick with one brand). We also have a set of plain wooden blocks and Citiblocs. I still help with building stuff, especially the Lego sets, but my son enjoys them all. I might get some Tinker Toys later but I think they're fairly advanced.
ETA: The plastic Tinkers are rated 3+. I guess I remembered incorrectly!

My mom bought LO some Megablok for Christmas, if she likes them I will probably buy another package to build on.

Skip the Megablocks -they are used for such a short time
Invest in Duplo - both of my kids love them (they are 2.5 and 5yr)
My 5yr old likes the regular lego blocks now too but still plays with the Duplo too!

@Mamaof2: I agree, I wished we had skipped the mega blocks and gone straight to duplos. So many more options and sets!

We only have mega blocks for now. She will be getting MagnaTiles for Christmas and I hope she loves it!
