I am pretty chill about following people, but I will unfollow people who post mostly about their religion. I will also unfollow atheists who post mostly about atheism.
I am an atheist myself, but I am very "live and let live" about religion/atheism and so I guess I don't really want to dwell on it on Twitter. Oh and also, if people post explicit stuff about their sex lives, then I'm generally out too.
What causes you to unfollow someone on Twitter?

Any major things I don't agree with (racist statements, sexist, etc.). Or if they unfollow me first.

I've steered clear of Twitter, but constant religion and politics will get someone hidden (or defriended) on FB. I got into it with my own brother awhile back, because I was tired of waking up to his ranting every morning in my news feed.
Another pet peeve: Stream of consciousness. ("Well, my car was almost out of gas so I went to the Shell on the corner and would you believe it was 20 cents cheaper than Speedway. Now I'm eating meatloaf for dinner. Might watch the game later, but I'm really tired.") -------> Shoot me.

Anyone who makes fun of or taunts those who have different political/religious/parenting/whatever views as they do. I'm fine with people posting about their beliefs, but not attacking other people's beliefs.

Blatant racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. And if all they do is tweet links for shopping - I don't need any encouragement there haha. I also hate bloggers who tweet rstyle/affiliate links without noting, so I unfollow them.

I'm not on twitter anyone, but I unfriend people on Facebook who cuss a lot, talk about sex, or are rude.

I mostly unfollow when the things posted become irrelevant to me, since I don't have many personal friends on Twitter. For example, after I got married and went through the whole Bridal Social Media craze, I unfollowed a lot of those types of posters. It didn't matter to me anymore if Monique Lhullier was having a trunk sale =P
I also unfollow people that are offensive or obnoxious (which many celebrity accounts tend to fall under!)

I'm also not on Twitter (I have an account, but never on it) but I unfollow ppl on FB for the same reasons, although none of my friends ever post anything about atheism. A few ppl have started dieting lately and are now vegetarian, which is all good but one is actually bashing meat now ... I mean every status update of hers was about talking trash about meat! I get the excitement but I just couldn't stand all the preaching, especially since she ate meat for over 30 years!

@mrbee usually I see #ad or #spons . I don't know why it bugs me so much, I am happy to give bloggers an affiliate credit but I just want to know when they're getting one I guess!
