I'd go for a pale blue or green. Like seaglass colors.

I tend to like cool, soothing colors in the bedroom: shades of blue are my favorite.

I saw this thread and had to get the laptop out to reply, lol.

So we painted before we moved in and the bedroom color is currently Benjamin Moore Ocean Air. It is an extremely pale green, with white trim and medium brown oak floors. Furniture is dark, we have a sleigh bed.

I found it very challenging to find bedding. I had planned on all white, but for some reason, the room just looked like I threw a tarp on the bed (I have the Pottery Barn pearl embroidery set in white with porcelain blue, which picks up the color of the wall). So I struggled and looked until I found two duvet covers that had the color in it and I bought both (from Pottery Barn). So, if I learned anything, it was to pick the bedding first then select the paint color from there. I could have actually gone deeper with the color, as the room gets a lot of light and I didn't account for it looking so sunwashed with the blinds open.

We can't piant our rental, but our splash of colour is blue assessories:

@looch: totally agreed. All the professionals I follow say the same - paint color should come last and complement rather than dictate. We have the exact same bedding, btw! We painted ours SW Tradewind, and while it picks up the bedding and rug, it's the only room in the house where I have a touch of dissatisfaction.

We had our master bed and bath painted in SW Rainwashed. I love it.

We have had green walls in the master (somewhere between sage & moss, ish), which grew on me. It was like that when we moved in. We had white bedding and dark furniture, light/beige carpet.

Our last rental had sea glass-ish walls, and I LOVED it. it was maybe a tad more blue than the examples above but, seriously, i'll look to paint my walls that again when we buy. the room had light brown carpet & oak woodwork, dark wood on the bed/dresser, some mismatched furniture pieces, and the bedding was white with a navy lattice print. i thought the white/navy looked great with the wall color!

@banddmommy: DH let you paint it purple?! i would get laughed out of the house if i even suggested that

Personally I'd love a light yellow. Our house is also mainly whites and grays and so we painted our whole basement a super light yellow! It makes me happy
