We don't currently have a credit card we use purely to collect rewards, but we're thinking of getting the Costco Amex since we spend so much at Costco and on gas!! We'd totally clean up on the rewards.
We don't travel much so a flight rewards card probably wouldn't be great for us.

We use Chase's Southwest card. It's amazing, we haven't paid for a flight in over 2 years (and we travel 2-3 times a year). You can also redeem the points for gift cards, although the flights are a much better deal.

All of my credit cards have either cash rewards or store rewards. I have a Gap family card (BR), Nordstrom, Amex Blue Cash, Discover. I may have a few others (ahem) but those are the ones I use.

Costco AMEX and Amazon & DH has a Discover card that does rewards. Downside to Discover is that it isn't accepted as widely. We got a pretty big reward on our costco card this year. But we use it for things outside costco too.

We have the Costco Amex for our joint credit card and we've been pretty happy with it so far. Although if you get it, you should probably also have either a mastercard or visa too since american express isn't accepted everywhere.

Bank of America cash rewards. 3% on gas, 2% on groceries and pharmacy, 1% on everything else. Bonus 10% cash back if you deposit it back in a Bank of America savings.
Discover for it's 5% rotating bonus and online shopping partner bonus cash back.
Citibank for 5% rotating bonus too.
And Amazon card for 3% on all amazon purchases

Amazon Chase card. You get 3x points on all amazon purchases and so it's easy to rack up the points if you shop on amazon a lot (like I do!).

Costco Amex and Bank of America. Currently Bank of America has an offer for new customers -- $100 back after spending $500 within the first 90 days of activation. I like using both cards.

Upromise, the rewards go directly to a high yield Salle Mae college savings account. I love it since we get rewarded for normal spending and extra for eating at certain restaurants and using certain businesses.

We have an AMEX for the double and triple points and then a United airlines Visa card for those places that don't accept American express. We love to travel, and I honestly don't remember the last time we paid for an airline ticket and or hotel.

We have a bunch of different cards, each serves a different purpose!
-Costco Amex (3% back on gas, 2% travel)
-Chase Freedom (5.5% back on different categories throughout the year: restaurants, Amazon, gas to name a few)
-Amex Blue cash (3% back on groceries, 2% on dept stores)
-US Bank Cash+ (5% back on 2 categories of your choice like restaurants, plane tickets)
-Fidelity Invest rewards Visa (1.5% back on everything)
-Chase Sapphire Preferred (2.07% back on travel and dining)
So if there is a better reward than 1.5%, I'll use that card, otherwise I use my Fidelity visa!
It's a lot of cards to carry in my wallet and sometimes I forget which one to use but I have labels on my cards to help me remember. Especially my Freedom card... I need that reminder of what categories are the bonus ones for the quarter.
I forgot to mention--we pay off each card in full every month and never carry a balance. If you need to carry a balance, a low APR card would be better than any rewards you earn.

chase southwest. I'm not in love because the apr is really high. But we got 4 free flights just for signing up for the card so it was worth it IMO.
