I know most of you are just now getting warm weather but we're basically in shorts already here and have already gotten quite a bit of sun. I've never worn sunscreen daily (I know, I know), so I really don't know what works best/what won't make us smell like the beach, etc. what daily sunscreen does your family use?

Is that a thing? People put sunscreen on their kids daily? My doctor had said that the boys need to get a half an hour of sunscreen-free sun each day. For vitamin D.

Alba Botanica for the kids and I use Elta or Neutrogena.

@travellingbee: honestly, I probably won't every single morning but our yard is FULL sun. We've maybe had a week or so of lots of outside time and we are already getting tan (no burns). I've heard as well, that sunscreen free time is important but we are out A LOT so I want to do better for them and myself.

@travellingbee: if I don't put sunscreen on my son he gets sunburned while at daycare. I only do it in the spring and summer though.
@Mrs. Sunshine: I just use whatever is on sale at target. Either up and up brand or coppertone.

Based on a thread from last summer I bought this one and I love it!
It's not too sticky and it works decently. It'll sweat off if you're doing a lot of hard playing but for regular use it's great.
My LO has inherited my super fair skin that burns in literally ten minutes without sunscreen. So we do it every time we go outside to play. Thinking about how each sunburn increases your chances of skin cancer freaks me out because I basically got several sunburns every summer of my life! As an adult I just try to stay out of full sun because I burn all the time. It's ridiculous! I even have dark hair and eyes, but still have this super fair skin.

I love Blue Lizard... Safe, easy to put on and comes in big bottles so we can all use it!

We use Think Baby. We do use it daily, but only in summer. No real need to worry about sunburns in New England during the other seasons.

@Mrs. Sunshine: Babyganics from Target! That's what he has in his cubby at school and they apply it everyday.
ETA: I think they just put it on his face daily. Not arms or legs.

@travellingbee: we do - I burn very easily, my kids are both fair skinned redheads, and skin cancer runs in DHs family.

@newlypregnantlady: I love all Hawaiian Tropic stuff for me. Smells so yummy and I don't feel greasy at all.
For the kiddos, I use Honest Sunscreen. @travellingbee: I recently had a basal cell carcinoma removed from my face, so yup. It's a "thing" to make sure my kids don't get skin cancer.

I will only put sunscreen on myself or DD when I know we will be out in the sun for an extended period of time. We live in WI and the winter months are so draining. I know I'm always low on vitamin D, so I soak it up when I can. As for DD, if we are going to the park or pool, I definitely lather her up, but if we are just running errands and whatnot.....no sunscreen.

Thinkbaby. It is easy to apply, has a pleasant smell, and stays on. If LO is outside for more than an hour she wears it. I also keep a sunscreen spray in the stroller and mustela stick. I've tried quite a few. Baby badger was great but too thick to apply quickly. I also like blue lizard Babyganics separated easily and got oily/weird. It also isn't as healthy as they lead you to believe.

LO is fair skinned, but regardless, research shows that most sun damage (leading to more detrimental things) happens early on in life. So why not apply it. -
Well, it snowed here today... Yay, Canada! We mostly just wear sunscreen in the summer, but DS and I are very fair, so it's important that we do whenever we are going to be out half and hour or more. We use Thinkbaby. DH doesn't use anything, until it's too late. Lol!

@2PeasinaPod: I wasn't trying to be offensive. I just didn't know that people put sun screen on their kids every day. We put sunscreen on at the pool and beach. I never thought of doing it for just regular outdoor play but then again, we don't burn much.

@travellingbee: that's the misconception though. Lack of a burn doesn't mean that sun damage isn't occurring. It comes down to cumulative sun damage and exposure over time. If you develop a tan at all, sun damage is occurring.

I burn in the car driving to the grocery store, so I wear sunscreen on any exposed skin whenever I'm outside - on my face year round. I typically use Neutrogena.
DD's skin isn't quite as bad as mine so I don't put it on her if we are just driving somewhere and will be going inside but otherwise she wears it. I haven't landed on the perfect one for her. We go through a lot so cost is a factor, I also want it to be easy to get on her. Planning on trying Think Baby next.
