Assuming you had a freezer stash - what did you do with it once your LO turned one? Did you continue giving BM until you were out and then switch to WCM (or something else)? Or did you do a combo??

We used it until we ran out at 14.5 months. I mixed with WCM or just gave it straight up in a straw cup.

We're not to this point yet, but if things continue as they have been I am going to have a good amount leftover by the time she's 1. I think I'll try to at least combo feed her WCM and BM til I use it all up. I don't think there's a downside to that, right? And I really don't want it to go to waste!

we still have some! i'm going to check the dates and start giving it to her in straw cups. i'm not pumping again for this kiddo!

@autumnlove: @lawbee11: If you mixed with WCM (or are planning to mix), did you do it for all bottles/sippies of milk during the day? Or just one a day?

I donated it. I was SO SICK of heating up milk in a bowl of hot water, I just couldn't bring myself to do it any more. Off it went to a baby in need!

@Adira: I'm not sure yet...I guess it'll depend on how much I have left. Probably for all in the beginning then less and less each day until they're all WCM.

Although that makes me think... if I'm mixing it, do I need to heat it up first at all?? Maybe because the fat separates?? Or can I just stir it??

i mix it with cow milk. LO is 12 months old and taking both bottle and straw cup right now, and i try to get at least half or more of cow's milk in every bottle/cup. i want to use up the freezer stash but i also want him to be more used to the taste of cow milk.

I gave it to a friend-- her LO is 3 months younger than C, and she had to have major surgery and be on painkillers that wouldn't make her breastmilk safe. So we gave them about 500 oz and had enough left to last us riiiiight until 12 months.

DS had a bad reaction to WCM at first so we kept using it. We slowly got him onto WCM and really didn't use the stash much after that. I had a few bags left to use up so I saved them for the times we ran out of milk and he needed something. We have one bag left at 16 months (I pumped a little past a year).

@Adira: we are mixing it into his cows milk for now - weaning to full on cows milk during the day. We just started him on all sippys - not bottles - this week. I think this week we will cut him down to .5 oz/ cup and the week after he will be on straight wcm. I am keeping some in the freezer for bedtime when we aren't around - we have 2 or 3 date nights planned in the next few months.

@dagret: When you started mixing - did you do it in bottles first and now you're going to all sippies?

@Adira: yep, started 1 oz wcm to 3 oz BM milk in early December in bottles. This week got down to 1 oz BM to 3 oz WCM and sippies. Next wed I'm going to start all wcm in sippies. l moves up to the next room February 3 where they don't give bottles.
Course he's still on the boob when I'm around - and lately he's wanted it A LOT - I think he's in bottle withdrawal.

I donated it through human milk for human babies to an adoptive mom.

We kept using it. LO hated having it mixed with WCM, so she continued getting a bottle a day until it was gone.
