Yoga pants, a nursing tank and a cardi. I think I should have worn a loose maxi with a cardi though.
ETA: honestly I didn't care at all what I looked like. It was just DH and I bringing E home and we were discharged at like 9pm so it's not like we had a welcoming party waiting for us.

I wore my PJs and a grey Gap Body robe. Ain't no shame in my game. I was on an IV for 2.5 days and my body was Killing Me bc it was so plump and juicy from fluids!!!!

Yoga pants, nursing tank, wrap cardigan, comfy slippers. My looks were not a priority.

I brought pjs and a maternity dress and chose the dress.

Mesh panties, Old Navy flip flops, yoga pants and a maternity tank.

First time, my SO's basketball shorts, a tshirt, and flip flops (I packed only gowns because I was told over and over I wouldn't want shorts and I wore only my SO's shorts. I hated the nightgowns).
Second time, yoga pants, long sleeve tshirt, chucks.

I'm not worried about my looks, I'm asking more for comfort. I'm wondering if yoga pants would be too tight on my belly. That's why I was considering a loose dress. On the other hand, if I wore yoga pants (or sweats) and a tank top, I could wear a sports bra like nursing bra.
I think I'm thinking wayyyy too much into this!

@rahlyrah: pack both and see what you feel like wearing? I'm going with yoga pants but our house is five minutes away from the hospital so I can always send DH back to get something else.

I wore a black long sleeve maxi dress. I didn't know if I'd end up with a c-section, and didn't want anything that would have to go across my stomach. I didn't have a c-section, but the flowy dress was very comfy on my PP body!

I wore maternity yoga pants, a nursing tank and flip flops (it was August). But I agree with @swedishfish: if you have the room in your bag, pack both and wait and see what's more comfortable.

@autumnlove: I was definitely wearing mesh panties! Forgot to specify that! Loooooooved me some mesh drawers:)
honeydew / 7586 posts
@swedishfish: Good idea. I should have plenty of room for both. A dress doesn't take up much room!
@PrincessBaby: What are mesh panties?!
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
@rahlyrah: they're these big huge like 10ft x 10ft panties that the hospital gives you to hold your big huge 10ft x 10ft maxi pad and they come up to your armpits and hold your 10ft x 10ft PP swollen belly in. They are so comfy that no one cares how hideous they are!

Yoga pants, nursing tank, and a zip hoodie! Yoga pants weren't too tight on my belly, although it wasn't sore anyway, so it wouldn't have mattered (may be different if you have a c/s though!). I lived in my yoga pants for probably the first two weeks....so comfy! I'd say the only hesitation with a dress is trying to BF in it without having to pull the entire dress up. Maybe I'm the only dummy who never mastered that, but I never wore maxi dresses because of it!

@PrincessBaby: YES. I hoarded me some mesh panties. I took like 10 boxes from the hospital. I asked all the different nurses for a box.

@PrincessBaby: Oooohhhh! Nice! Just making sure it isn't something I should purchase ahead of time

@rahlyrah: Thanks for asking about the mesh undies - I didn't have them and never could quite envision how exactly they worked. Now I know! I just wore plain black cheapo undies that I'd bought from target in a size larger than I normally wear and wore those - they were fine.

@photojane: Me too:). I wanted to wear them forever! DH said nooooooooooo:)
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
@rahlyrah: The hospital will give them to you, along with the biggest pads you have ever seen in your life:). Take a bunch- they don't care!

I am packing an ON foldover skirt, nursing top and flip flops, but have some maternity sweatpants as a backup in case I am in no mood to put on a skirt.

Sweatsuit and nursing tank under the zip up hoodie.
I second everyone else, looks were not my main priority!

i wore yoga pants, the mesh undies (yay! -- they were more like boy short cut), nursing tank, and zip up hoodie. it was spring, though!
if it was really hot i'd either wear the same, or a loose maxi (dress or skirt) would be nice too!

@tlcbaby: I wore an ON fold over skirt home and it was super comfy! I also wore a loose top and flip flops. I was very comfortable!

I wore a loose dress. It was perfect! I'll probably wear the same thing for baby #2.

Yoga pants, flip flops, nursing bra, mesh panties, and a very loose top.

I wore loose house/yoga pants, a bra (which I regret with my sore nipples), t shirt and a zip up sweatshirt. Be comfy.

I had pants and ended up with a c/s so they weren't very comfortable. Next time I would take a loose, comfy dress. My feet were also insanely swollen from being hooked up to an IV 24/7 for 5 days so, I didn't have great shoes either. So, think about footwear that would work for you if you swelled a bit.

I wore yoga pants, a nursing tank, cardi and sandals (ugly kegs ones because I had huge shrek feet that wouldn't even fit in flip flops. I was so comfy! I had a section and didn't mind the pants over my post-op belly at all. I ditched the mesh panties, because I felt like my ass was like a bundle of cottage cheese squeezed in a cheese cloth in them ... Gross! I wore black 100% cotton boy cut underwear pp, and found it the most comfortable.

Nursing tank, long sleeve tshirt and yoga pants. Pretty sure I had flip flops on too cause the night my water broke it was really nice out. It was cold when we went home.
