I got this "pretty pusher" dress that someone recommended.
In hindsight it was the dumbest pregnancy-related purchase I made. I did not care what I wore (or how I looked) and would have been fine in a hospital gown.

@ElbieKay: I totally agree about not caring what I look like, but I found the hospital gown to be super uncomfortable fabric. I was thinking of just a robe. Maybe bring a sports bra and comfortable underwear too just in case.

I wonder this too if people didn’t wear a gown of any kind. I actually made someone strip my gown off while pushing because the room felt like it was a hundred degrees and I felt really constricted in the gown. If we have another baby my plan is to wear a nursing bra or sports bra and maybe some kind of short loose skirt? (Is that a thing?) or something so my belly can be free for monitoring and cooling. I think I’ll need continuous monitoring because I’ll always be a vbac

Is it weird that I have no idea? I went into labor overnight, labored at Home until late the next afternoon, then went to the hospital, got discharged, and came rushing back to have my son 30 minutes after getting back to the hospital. I have literally no memory of what I was wearing at any point.

I have a labor dress i wore for parts of both! I really just bought it as a maternity dress, it’s stretchy, black and sleeveless with a wrap front across the chest. I took it off and ended up with nothing in my first labor because i spent a lot of time in their shower. The second was super fast at the hospital so i just tucked the skirt into the top for them to monitor while I was standing up and never even got offered a gown. And my little boy got tucked into the wrap top part when he was born! So now it feels like a lucky thing and I’ll probably try it again. I probably had on the sleep type nursing bra too.

hospital gown. I loved being at the hospital, I felt so safe, and the hospital gown just seemed like the uniform and I wanted to wear it.

I wore a sports bra, hospital gown, and a bathrobe over the gown. The sports bra was a huge mistake bc they taped my epidural to it so I couldn’t take it off and I was on IV fluids for 36 hours so I was SO SWOLLEN by the time I delivered and it was uncomfortable and then to do skin to skin it was in the way and we shoved it up but it was so awkward. I think next time I would do a nursing sleep bra and not tape the epidural to it.

I started in yoga pants and a tank top and was told to put on the gown when I was in transition. I put it around my waist and continued to labor in my bra and underwear.

For my first I think I had the gown on part of the time, then got in the bath tub naked and I think the rest of the time I just had a towel but was pretty much naked. I can’t remember and totally didn’t care. I was wearing a super loose dress when i got there and I remember wanting it off because I didn’t want it to get all nasty.
For my second I had a gown but I was only there about 45 minutes until she was born.

Completely naked haha I couldn’t stand anything touching or restricting me

Hospital gown all 3 times. Well, I labored at home a long time with lo1 and I don't even remember the things I wore. Lo3 I was about halfway through labor when I got to the hospital but ddin't know it.. so I guess I wore PJs followed by a cute casual dress, haha! By the time I was in the hospital for an hour I was in enough pain I wouldn't give a crap about fabric either tbh!

Probably a coobie bra and the hospital gown? Or nothing? No clue! But I was at the hospital about 2 hours before DD1 was born and maybe 20 minutes before DD2 was born!

I actually can't even remember! I can't remember if they ask you to strip down at some point, or you can keep some clothes of what. I'm seriously drawing a blank haha! I def had their gown on both times.

My sports bra and the gown the first time.
Just my sports bra the second time.

LOL. I'm so glad others are like ummm I think it was this or I don't remember too well. I think with LO #2 he came so fast I was just in a gown but had a regular bra and tank top underneath. I sort of remember because I went to do skin to skin and was like oh I'm in all these layers! With LO #1, I have no clue - probably just the gown. No clue if I had a bra on or anything.

For LO1 I wore a robe from home (short, silky) and was comfortable. For LO2 I wore a super comfortable knee-length skirt (t-shirt/yoga pants type material) which was awesome until I got into the tub (naked). I don't remember what was on top but probably just a t-shirt. I just remember everyone at the hospital complimenting the skirt for how comfy and practical it was.

I started in my own Motherhood Maternity nursing robe and undies but things got...er...messy pretty quickly. I decided I'd rather ruin their clothes than mine and switched to the hospital gown. During transition I couldn't stand the feeling of anything against me and couldn't rip it off fast enough. Naked it was!

For #1 I labored in a gown and then when I moved to the tub, they gave me this stretchy tube top.
For #2 I wore the hospital gown and brought my robe. Robe was essential since I walked and walked and walked those hospital hallways!

LO1: I bought a robe and dumbly did not try it on. When I put it on during labor, it didn't fit So I wore the hospital gown and ultimately couldn't care less. So much sweat.
LO2: A black nursing bra and both of these shorts:

I wore all that during early labor and showering, then when I got the epidural I took the shorts off and put a hospital gown on. During pushing, I took the hospital gown top off and left it around my waist.

I wore leggings, and a tank top, with a sleep nursing bra under! My water broke to start labor, so I definitely wanted pants on, so having to constantly change my huge pad from all the water gushing constantly. It was nice being about to walk around comfortably in the hospital in my own clothes. I then labored in the bathtub there, and after that I just put the hospital gown on, because it was taking too long for the rest of my clothes!! hahahah

All the responses about not remembering make me feel better about it. Now I don’t feel like I have to worry too much and just go in whatever is comfortable.

@turquoisemama: I vote just go for the hospital gown. If you need something to support your boobs make sure it is good for nursing so you can just clip it down for skin to skin.
I wore a nursing tank under the gown for my first. For my second I don't remember what I wore under the gown! I think it was nothing? My water kept gushing out with my second so I actually changed my gown once because it got wet.
@Ms.Mermaid: They taped your epidural to your sports bra?!? That is so not cool. With my first the doctor just lifted up my tank and taped it underneath.

Both times I started in a stretchy jersey skirt and a pullover bra/tank. Got in the tub with just my bra on. After that I think hospital gown.

@KT326: I honestly can't remember why they did it (I got the epi on day 3 of my induction after very little sleep) and I should have just had them lift it up. Next time!

With my first I wore a Hospital gown at first but spent a lot of time in the shower so was naked most of the later stages.
With my second I think I was wearing a Hospital gown but really I have no idea!
