I just wore the hospital gown. I don't really remember having much of an option. But I also spent a good part of my time in the jacuzzi tub wearing nothing!

I wore a sports bra and a knit skirt from Old Navy (that they threw afterward.)

I wore a comfy nursing bra (the sporty, pull to the side kind), a long, stretchy black skirt, and a dark robe. This let me walk around the halls during labor in full coverage, sit in my room in moderate coverage (no shirt), and lift and drop garments as needed for monitoring, IVs, checks, etc.

They did try to get me to change into the gown upon arrival, but I simply declined. When the nurse said "well, we have to check you" I kindly explained that the skirt lifted up and I would just drop my panties as needed. She wasn't thrilled, but she put the gown away. After 3 days of laboring, I'm sure glad I was a little pushy when I arrived…that'd be a long time walking halls in those "lovely" gowns, especially when my employer's wife was in labor at the some time so I'd see my boss each day! LOL.

i started laboring early in the morning and pretty much stayed in my PJs (over-sized, short-sleeve nightgown) the whole time until i gave birth later that night in the hospital. the nurses offered me a hospital gown, but i liked wearing something from home even though i knew it would get ruined.

Sports bra + hospital gown + bathrobe (to cover my butt!). I totally forgot that I wasn't wearing underwear... how funny! I am a freak when it comes to underwear, can't stand not wearing any, but apparently it didn't even phase me at the time. Having a baby is so crazy like that...

The first time I wore the hospital gown, the second time I bought a custom hospital gown and loved it!! It didn't get bloody or gross at all.

Don't wear anything you wouldn't want to get blood/guts/puke all over! I wore the hospital gown and was comfortable.

Most of my labor was spent at home-- by the time it was getting bad, I was either in a giant t shirt and shorts, or a bathrobe since I was in and out of the tub/shower a lot.

At the hospital, I wore a very loose maternity dress in, but I pretty much wanted out of it almost immediately. They used so much goop (like, the jelly or lubricant or whatever) to check me when I was checked in that I just felt like it was a goopy mess and I didn't want it on my clothes-- I liked that dress!

I wore a hospital gown and stretchy bra until I got in the tub. I had planned to wear the bra in the tub because I thought I would be self conscious, but turns out I did not give a f at that point. After the tub I think I sort of had a towel over me but I was pretty much naked until delivery. And I'm pretty modest, never thought that would be the case.

I had a med free birth but did not leave my delivery room once I was checked in. I just had no desire to walk or anything, surprisingly.

I wore the hospital gown and would have stripped naked if I didn't have so many dang wires coming out of my hand.

@coopsmama: I despise hospital gowns because of how the rub on my neck. I wore an Old Navy tank top and nursing bra, which I found very comfy.

ETA: they didn't "give" me the option, but I just took it I also had an epi, but it still worked out just fine.

They put me in a gown but it was way too hot so I just did it all in my sports bra. I'll do the same next time.

I wore a loose cotton tube dress (but spent most of the time in the shower).Then when I got an epi, they changed me into a gown.

Hospital gown, that like I took off when I spiked a fever while pushing (so you aren't the only one @Cherrybee!). So I gave birth butt naked. My DH has politely asked that I wear a bra this time! I think I'll probably wear a nursing sleep bra, and ask if I can wear a yoga skirt instead of a hospital gown. Hospital gowns are gigantic and I felt like I was trying to hold it and get it out of the way so much.

For those that didn't wear a hospital gown, did you ask if it was okay not to? Did you just never change? Did the nurses give you a hard time about it? Was anyone required to change anyway? I don't want to be a prima donna about it. But then again, I'm sure the nurses would prefer if I wasn't completely naked for hours this time.

I bought a cheap but comfy nightgown to labor in, however, I ended up in and out of the shower alot and couldn't keep putting in on/off because of back labor so I ended up in bathrobe and eventually naked. It was a bit uncharacterisitc of me! I kind of regret it simply because there are some pics from right after birth that I would never feel comfortable sharing with anyone because of the sheer nudity/blood etc factor although they capture beautiful moments.

with my first, I was induced, so I just got to the hospital in normal street clothes (hair and makeup done) and changed into a hospital gown.

with my second, I woke up in the middle of the night in labor and then labored at home as long as I could (got to the hospital at 7 centimenters). I wore a sweatshirt over a bra and baggy sweatpants. I ended up delivering naked because I labored in the tub. haha

I wore a really comfy, black house dress.
