I want to send some homemade hot chocolate mix to an old friend of mine that has moved to Canada… She is expecting her first baby and we used to always get together and talk over a mug of hot chocolate… I've never shipped anything to Canada before and don't really ship packages much anyway…
What's the best/cheapest way to send something like this? Is is going to get stuck at customs? Any tips???

Is it powdered hot chocolate mix? Is it labelled in a container? I don't know for sure, but I'm wondering if it might get stopped at customs because its homemade and isn't sealed/doesn't have a content label.
Other than that, I think it is cheapest to send in a padded envelope as opposed to a box...but I know that sending from Canada to US is strictly by weight, and not by package size.

@Mrs. Oatmeal: it is a homemade powdered mix. I was wondering if it will get flagged/thought to be suspicious too since it's not packaged or labelled. 
Maybe I will see if any of her family is traveling up soon to send it along with them.
