We are going to a fertilty clinic on Friday. I had a mmc last summer, a chemical pregnany last month and looking like another one this month. I know they will run tests and it all depends on what they find, but I'm wondering what sort of things are tried before ivf. Clomid wouldn't help since I'm able to get pregnant, right? I'm already on progesterone. I'm just wondering what kind of possible options to expect.

Ask to get tested for urea plasma it is a bacteria that can cause inflammation in uterus my RE checked me after two CPs and I came up positive started a round of antibiotics and baby aspirin we conceived DD that month after 3 failed IUIs and almost 3years TTC

I can't answer your question, but I can give you a general idea of what to expect from the first visit. It will be a TON of questions and answers (health history, pregnancy history/cycle history, family histories, etc). There may be a basic gynecological exam. They will give you packets of information and talk you through next steps/tests/etc. The should also involve you in a dialogue and give you the chance to voice all of your questions and concerns. Write things down ahead of time so you don't forget, and feel free to take notes as you talk to them! It was very helpful to have DH in there with me for all this-- between the two of us we remembered most things after the fact.

First, I'm really sorry to hear about your losses. Second, my friend has had several early miscarriages and recently had genetic testing after her first appointment with a fertility clinic. This testing revealed that she has a chromosomal issue that is causing her MCs. They will do IVF with genetic screening of the embryos moving forward.

Our dr did a bunch of bloodwork to test for clotting, autoimmune disorders, thyroid, and FSH, AMH to look at egg quality/reserves. They also did a saline sonogram to see if I had any irregularities in my uterus such as a septum. The other option, which we did not pursue, was DNA karyotyping. Our dr didn't feel that it was warranted at the time. It's pretty pricy and generally the fix if they find a translocation is IVF with PGD, and we weren't ready to go there yet.
Good luck. I hope you find some answers. They never were able to find a reason for my 3 losses. However, I would also recommend getting a pathology report should you ever need a d&c. We didn't with my D&c and I really wish I had done it.

@futuremama: this sounds really intense. I actually had a d&c last summer. Since we conceived DD easily, it was assumed it was a fluke and no testing was done. -
I'm so sorry for your losses! the ladies above covered the first visit well. I have a daughter who is 3 and have had 3 miscarriages in the last 1 1/2 years. Because I "can" get pregnant, IUI/meds seemed liked they'd only help get pregnant again faster, and with greater chance of multiples. So, we are doing IVF (we had the embryos genetically tested). So far we've had 1 failed cycle and are hoping for better luck in the new year!

Sorry for your losses :(. It really does depend on what they find out in the testing. As you said you haven't had issues getting pregnant so I doubt they would do any kind of drugs like Clomid. I've had 3 MCs and all the testing we did for both me and my husband came back fine so the only conclusion was that my eggs are old/bad. There was no other option for us besides IVF w/PGD testing- that was the only way to weed out the abnormal embryos.
I wouldn't worry about not testing after your D&C. I did it and it was inconclusive. My dr said it's really difficult for them to get much info because unless it's later on in the pregnancy because it's hard to distinguish between your cells and the embryos.
