First time around we had a June baby and I'm pretty sure we did just a short sleeve onesie or a light cotton sleeper and muslin swaddle during the newborn months. But this time DD2 is due in December. What do you dress a winter baby in for bed? We have two of those newborn cotton Halo sleep sacks that contain the arms that we never used last time. Would layering a onesie, cotton sleeper, and sleep sack be warm enough? We generally keep the house cool at night.

My son wore a fleece sleeper and a fleece swaddle sack, and we left the heat at the daytime temperature.

We did cotton short sleeve onesie, thick cotton or fleece jammies, and a swaddle or sleepsack. If baby was cold we added socks.

We used fleece PJs and a Velcro Swaddle. I don't think I would put a onesie on too- might overheat which is more dangerous than being cool.

We did a cotton sleeper and an A&A cozy sleep sack or 2.5Tog GroBag.
I don't like fleece on little babies. Mine always got kind of swampy when I'd put them in fleece. -
We used a fleece sleepsack during the winter and put it on top of their PJs. DH is always hot so we set our thermostat to 68. I think our baby monitor would show their room staying in the 70 degrees range.
I'm having more issues regulating their room in the summer because it's been hot and we don't have AC. It's always warmer when they go to bed but I know it gets cool in the morning and don't want them freezing.
Anyway, I think cotton sleepsacks could work if you don't want to get fleece ones.
ETA: Oh, a fleece sleeper in a cotton sleep sack could work, too.

DS was a November baby and our bedroom got into the mid-high 60s at night. We put him in a short sleeve onesie, fleece sleeper and swaddle.

We did a onesie underneath a fleece swaddle sleep sack. Once we took her out of the swaddle, we switched to a long sleeve onesie. She always seemed to get too hot if she had PJs with legs.

This is really helpful everyone! We tend not to do fleece either @oliviaoblivia:, so maybe I should look into getting a heavier cotton sleep sack.

@erinbaderin: I know we kept it a little warmer for DD1's first winter and she was already 6 months at that point, so I'll have to consider that this winter again.

Tbh, when mine were still immobile, and sleeping in my room, if they seemed chilly in a onesie and jammies and swaddle with socks, I'd drape a blanket over them from the chest down. And if you want a heavier cotton sleepsack instead of a swaddle, I like one we have from IKEA. It's like a duvet..

Our LO slept in a short sleeve onesie and a fleece swaddle sleep sack.

We did what you suggested....short sleeve cotton onesie, footed sleeper and halo sleep sack. Generally the sleep sack was fleece and our house was pretty chilly, otherwise I would not have put the onesie on.

We did cotton zipper footie sleeper and cotton SwaddleMe or cotton Halo Sleepsacks but DS ran super hot and sweaty and would scream bloody murder if we put him in fleece.

We kept a warmer temp in the house and dressed her in a long sleeve cotton top (the side snap ones), socks, and a swaddle or sleep sack. I'm not a fan of fleece.

October baby, she wore a fleece sleeper with a fleece sleep sack.

When DD was a newborn in Dec we just kept her in cotton sleeper since she's wrapped in either another cotton swaddle or a fleece one. She was always in some sort of swaddle/sleeping bag device so we never put more than a onesie+sleeper, both cotton. She runs pretty hot when asleep.

My babies only sleep in natural fibres (wool or cotton) as they're breathable to prevent overheating and they're light and easy to layer, in winter they'd wear a onesie, long sleeved sleeper, swaddle and a light woollen blanket tucked firmly under the mattress.
