Depending on where in the UK you are, you might hear a bread roll referred to as a roll, a bap, a barm cake, a cob or, in my city, they're called a batch! I do like a bacon batch!!
What do you call bread rolls?

@travelgirl1: Baps!!!!
Ugh, rolls indeed. ALL over America? You lot have no imagination!! Lol.

Bread in America is lacking imagination, that's why! I call it all rolls, if they are baked individually, unless they are biscuits, lol.

Rolls. This makes me think of Robin Hood Men in Tights: "a roll is a roll. And a toll is a toll. And if we don't get no tolls, then we don't eat no rolls."

Rolls, buns, occasionally biscuit. I love buttermilk biscuits but not good for the waistline.

It depends what kind of roll it is. If it's a hot dog one- I'd say roll, if it's a burger one- I'd say bun or bap, if it's already got bacon in I'd call it a bap or butty or if it were one of those fresh ones that you don't necessarily put anything in like you get at the Harvester I'd say roll also.
I have no idea what the biscuit version they have in the States must look like!

For hotdogs/hamburgers, it's a bun. Otherwise, it's a roll. Unless its cornbread, then I call it cornbread or a muffin (depending on if I made corn muffins).

Biscuit?? I've never heard that one! Over here, biscuits are... erm... well like cookies. Little sweet baked treats...

Biscuits are like savoury scones. Mmm. I miss biscuits.
What British people call a bap, I would call a bun.

rolls or buns. here, baps are a type of roll. my fave actually!
it makes me laugh so hard when DH tries to call them biscuits. have to remind him that in NZ biscuits are basically the same as cookies

dinner rolls, buns, biscuits maybe (a biscuit is more like a baguette rather than a roll)

I'm confused now seeing everyone's answers! If we're talking about what I think we are.....If you eat it warm I call it a biscuit, if you eat it cold, it's a roll.
So, picture one is a biscuit, a roll to me is the texture of a plain hamburger bun (second picture)

@MrsTiz: your first pic is definitely a biscuit. The second pic looks like a hamburger bun. Here's what I'm thinking is a roll.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I second this as what I imagine a roll to be.
I definitely think I use bread more often than anything else. Like at a restaurant, I would ask for more bread (: Regardless of the shape (:

@Cherrybee: Ha ha, I know! We also call them bread cakes. But baps most frequently

@MrsTiz: yes. Agreed. Rolls are cold or room tempt. Biscuits are warm. But, I slather both with butter.
Biscuits are like the kind that Tim horton's give out with soups; they are kind of hard.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: yes! It was a hamburger bun but its the only texture I could find hahah your picture is what I call a roll
