Hellobee Boards

This has only happened to us once or twice. My parents watch my son a couple afternoons a week, so first we check to see if they can take him. They can't really arrive earlier than 10:30 or 11 so sometimes that means I work from home and have an abbreviated day.

A few months ago, we started part time day care two mornings per week. I have never done this but I am pretty sure I could pay for extra time.

My husband's job also has a backup care service but the drop off centers have very limited slots. There is also an option for them to send someone for in-home care but I don't like the idea of a strange sitter coming to my house. (Obviously I went through that with our nanny but it was a necessary investment in my relationship with her.) So we haven't used this benefit yet. If we ever do then I think I will insist that my husband or I also work from home to keep tabs on things.

I am lucky to have flexibility with my job, within reason. There are some days (like today!) when I have to attend a meeting in-person or have an especially important client call. But I can get away with shifting / flexing a lot, and it really helps. (I also work hard and contribute a lot!)

We stay home from work---We've only had a nanny for 3 weeks, and she already took 1 day. =(

No nanny, but if our sitter (in-home daycare) is sick, I have my in-laws as backup and also have another in-home daycare as back-up that takes drop-ins. Luckily I haven't had to use either much, but it is definitely nice to just have that back-up available.
