I think I want to get a kindle paperwhite for this reason (not due til January). Interested to hear what others say.

When DS was a newborn and up all the time and took forever to nurse, I usually got my phone out and was in FB and HB. Now, at 8.5 months and one wake up, I go in, lay my head back on the glider, and close my eyes while he nurses for 10-15ish min. Or I just watch him nurse and soak in the closeness. Then straight to bed and usually right to sleep again. I've found now that doing anything (like playing on my phone) wakes me up too much and I have a harder time going back to sleep!

@Emsmems: exactly this! I am basically in zombie mode.. walk down the hall in the dark, nurse ~10 minutes, lay LO down in his crib, walk back to bed and try to fall asleep again as quickly as I can

I used to read on my phone, but now they get pretty distracted by the light. Plus, MOTN wakeups are short now (cuddle, nurse back to sleep in 5 minutes!) so I just sit there in the dark. Sometimes I fall asleep until my DH comes to check on me or the other baby wakes up.

I watched netflix movies and def. caught up on HB as well. Or just caught up on shows in general on my iPad.

Surprisingly for many any months I was able to stay awake for the majority of a newborn 45 minute long nursing session without any stimulation! Then I started falling asleep sitting up in bed so we would just Co sleep after her first MOTN session. Now she has about a 2 or 3 minute session once a night so it's not hard to pop in her room & then go back to mine without issue.

In the first two weeks, we were up for longer stretches so I would watch shows on Netflix or nick at nite. So excited HIMYM reruns were on lol

Now she nurses a few minutes and goes right back down (usually) whih is so nice

I'm the type that wakes up, so if I start reading/watching/whatever I get engrossed and want to continue even after baby is back down!

in the first couple of months of LOs life I watched the entire series of Seinfeld. I watched it on my iphone with headphones so i could click it on wherever i was, night or day. It was actually interesting to watch how the show evolved in such a short time span. we all remember Seinfeld as one of the best sitcoms of all time, but the last couple of seasons it got really poor and i was no longer surprised it ended when it did!

When she was a newborn I'd get up and watch netflix and feed her on the couch. Once she was about 3 months i just put her in bed with me and nursed side lying while I slept.
