I've been working on decluttering and came across massive amounts of greeting cards. I went through and tossed all the envelopes and only kept the cards that are either pretty or have some sentimental greeting. But now what? I don't want to leave them on a shelf to collect dust for another five years. So bees, what do you do with your cards?

I turn a lot of them into gift tags (mostly with the Christmas cards, but sometimes with birthday and college grad cards), I cut them around their designs (sometimes getting 2-3 tags out of a card) and then round the corners with a punch.
I also do a lot of scrapbooking, so if it's an appropriate card/design I'll cut out what I like and use it later for scrapbooking.
Other cute designs I like but would never use for a gift tag or scrapbooking I cut off the back of the card, and set the front of the card aside to save for DD to do some sort of crafts with. My niece and nephew (2 and 4) love cutting and gluing things to make 'scenes', so my SIL cuts out a bunch of pictures from magazines. Cards are also a good way to get cutesy images!

What a good question! I can't wait to see what other people have to say.
My policy is the following: cards for me of DH usually end up in the recycle bin after their season has passed. Cards for our baby (due in June!) are going into a special folder to be incorporated into an album later. If there are any special cards that mean too much to toss, these we keep in keepsake boxes. Hopefully someday they, too, will make it into albums.

Or, my wedding cards I punched 1-3 holes depending on the size of the card (all with the same distance between the holes), lined them up by size, and used those metal rings to group them all together. I put them in a box with my veil, ring pillow, etc.
I did the same with DD's cards through 1st birthday, and added them to her baby box

I am a hoarder of greeting cards (and lots of other things). I just threw out a bunch. I made some artwork with them, cut them all up into strips and glued them to a canvas. Now they are permanently on display but not taking up space.

I throw them out, but I've seen on blogs & pinterest where people put them away in photo albums (the ones w/ one big pocket I guess and label them by year. I've also seen people scan/take pics of them and making a pic book out of them!

@swurlygurl: That's a really interesting idea about the tags! Unfortunately since having kids I haven't been able to keep up with scrapbooking and have mostly moved to photo books that I can make quickly.

Hmmm...I wish they were easier to throw away, but I'm a sentimental fool. Maybe I need to invest in some nicer keepsake boxes...

I throw away most of them, unless they have a special note or letter written inside them. I keep the special ones in a small box that was technically for wedding keepsakes.

I keep the ones with long messages, sentimental value in a shoebox, otherwise they get tossed!
