DH & I road trip often to visit my family. We still do our best to eat "decent". We still avoid Mickey D's, Burger Kings etc at all costs. Now that LO is older we stop and sit down at a restaurant.
When the weather turns nicer I think I will pack us dinner and pull off to a nice "scenic rest area" for dinner so she can run around.

Fast food. Especially in an airport, no time for sitting down unless we have a long (2 hr) layover.
When M gets older, we may pack sandwiches and chips but for now, it's fast food.

When its nice weather we stop at rest areas and eat picnic style - sandwiches, fruit, chips, etc.
For the car we do bananas, trail mix, pretzels and goldfish

CANDY! I'm a very happy long time paleo eater but when I take a car trip I have a crazy NEED for candy. Butterfinger, Snickers, Reeses, all of the above - give it to me now. I won't be turning LO's carseat around for a while hopefully she'll never know.

We pack as much food as we can - lunch meat, veggies, fruit, Lara Bars, dried fruit, nuts, etc. but seek out Chipotle, Qdoba or fun local restaurants if we have time for a sit down meal.

fast food, usually mcdonald's. depending on how far we're going though, i will pack a portable stove and cook for the kids at a rest stop.

I try to eat light while on the road. No greasy fast food for mr b/c I have a weak stomach and my fear is something bad happening while on the road!

I'm a vegetarian so it's tough for me to eat fast food. On a long car trip I'll usually shop beforehand for lots of good car snacks and then we'll stop at a restaurant with more menu options for me. Sometimes dh will still want to stop at a drive thru though!

Really, though, we like to make trail mix to eat on the road. Growing up, we also did pepperoni and cheese, pretzels, and sometimes a rotisserie chicken. But when we brought food, my dad always stopped to get us ice cream for a treat!
