We think our lo is constipated from all the medicine she has been on recently. She's in a lot of pain so we want to help her. Any suggestions for what to give her? So far my list looks like this:
Lots of water.
Peanut butter
Berries
Broccoli
Peas
Beans

Prunes. We get the big bag from Costco and cut them up for her. She loves them! They worked way better then the baby food jars of purred prunes.

Pear juice or pear fruit - actually any of the P fruits, warm bath with abdominal massage, Pedialax glycerin suppository if all else fails

If it's been a few days: I go for Miralax or if she's really in pain a glycerin suppository.
Lots of water and tummy massages.
For food: pears/pear juice, prunes/prune juice.

yep..apple or prune juice. miralax was our go-to for a looong time (she had chronic issues after starting solids). she also loves raisin bran.

Really warm water. Works pretty quick. And pears!

We have been through this and for us, two things work like magic every time.
Dried cranberries
Ground flaxseed - thank me later:)Ground flaxseed is my number 1 option and IMO gets the job done every single time. I mix it into all kinds of things for her because she can't taste it. Prunes and pears while okay when she was younger did not have much effect when she became a toddler.

Haven't tested it myself but i've heard of giving them some extra magnesium supplement. A side effect if too much magnesium is diarrhea. If anyone has tried this, let me know if it works

It's already been said, but pears work within minutes for my LO. In fact, I can't really give them to him unless he's constipated!

Thanks everyone! We're going to go with prune juice and lots of water to start. My husband called and said she had a GIANT BM around 11am which is making me feel better now (and hopefully making her feel better, too!!!)

I will usually offer a pear and blueberry smoothie with a handful of spinach thrown in and it does the trick.

We use prune juice and have used glycerine suppositories for very severe constipation when she was younger. Glad she had a big BM today though - amazing how excited you can get about this stuff as parents

Grape or prune juice watered down to a 1:1 ratio. Within an hour, it all comes out.

Watered down juice, prunes/plums/pears, and when she was smaller any pouch that had spinach in it worked wonders. We also did Miralax if it got bad.
