I keep seeing mention of wanting a HB app, but I'm having so much trouble imaging what this would look like!
If you were designing a HB app what would it do?

It would fit everything HB has to offer in a much more phone friendly appearance. Right now I have to zoom and move around the website in a weird way that makes posting awkward. Really it would provide the same content but be designed in a way that is more compatible with the size and shape of a phone. Also, it could send you alerts (rather than e-mails) when somebody responds to a post.
I talked to Mr. Hedgie about it since he is a software engineer and has done a similar thing for other websites and apparently it is actually super complicated... so I understand them not having one ATM.

I have this major pet peeve about the idea of creating apps for every single website in existence when there isn't really any need. I work in Marketing for a park district and on a weekly basis I get someone suggesting to me that we "get an app." But most of the time, people don't mean we need an APP, they mean we need a mobile compatible website. (And it's in the works, thank goodness!) Personally, I like some of the advances in responsive web design and it solves a lot of the issues that people have navigating web sites on mobile devices. I don't think it's necessary to have an app for HB unless there's some very specific purpose it would fulfill that's different from the functionality of the website (and I don't know what that'd be).

I agree with @twodoghouse:! I don't understand why there is a need for a HelloBee app, when a mobile friendly site would suffice. I really don't want to install yet another app on my phone if all it does is allow me to do things a mobile compatible site would do.

@twodoghouse: yes. Mobile friendly would suffice and I would truly appreciate it!
However I think if the the bees were looking to make profit with an app, that could work in their favor. An app would be more mobile friendly but also be easier to navigate between the boards, blog, profile, Etc. I like the aforementioned idea of alerts although that would he difficult to program I imagine.

I like the idea of a more mobile friendly site, rather than an app...however, if an app would profit Mr and Mrs Bee then that's cool too.

Easy to stay logged in and read text wih zooming an scrolling would be worth it to me to pay!

I have HB saved to my iPhone desktop and I have no problems with it but alerts would be nice!

@twodoghouse: Yep, fair enough. A mobile-friendly website is just as good as an app.

I definitely agree that the benefits of a device-optimized site outweigh those of a specific app: something that can render nicely on both my Android phone and iPad. As @mrs-hedgehog: says, it may be too complicated to build an app just to get these features, or not really worth it.
