I'm a new mom to two and I'm struggling with what I should pack in the diaper bag to keep my 2 yr old entertained without weighing my bag down. I have to carry all the essentials for a newborn, which is heavy enough. Does anyone that has gone through this or going through this have advice?

All I carry for DD nowadays is her water bottle, a few snacks, and my phone. I downloaded some toddler apps, or she can watch YouTube videos, if we are out somewhere and she needs entertainment.

If we are going somewhere I think he will be bored like the mall, I'll bring some snacks, water and the iPad. I keep a change of clothes and a diaper in the car in case of emergencies.

For my 2 yo I carry an extra change of clothes just in case and some snacks. I always carry water for myself and she shares with me. For my 3 month old I carry 3 diapers, wipes and a change of clothes.
edit: she usually doesn't need entertainment while we're out, but I have some toys, a plastic bowl (don't ask) and a ball that I leave in the car. If she gets crazy I'll hand her my phone and she watches youtube.
