I wouldn't spell out anything like ASS with your initial choices.

And personally, I wouldn't name another child the same name as your angel baby. What about using it as a middle name this time to honor his big brother?

Middle school would be cruel to a kid with the initials ASS.

It's up to you to use your angel baby name. Years ago, it was normal. My grandfather's name is Robert, but he was the second Robert, because one baby passed away before he was born. On the other hand, it's not as common these days...I'm always sad that a name I loved is on a baby that passed away, but I couldn't bring myself to use it again. But, it's whatever you are comfortable with.

I wouldn't worry about being gender specific with names, though.

I'd be fine with re using Gabriel, but I would steer clear of any A names if you are determined to use Sue as a middle.

Love the name Gabriel and the idea of using it as a middle to honor your angel baby. I wouldn't do Avery for a boy because I only have heard of girls with that name, and yes, the initials matter- no ASS!

I like Avery for a girl, but not if you are set on Sue for a middle. I would pass on ASS.

I'm not sure how I would feel about reusing Gabriel as a first name, but you and your SO are comfortable with it that is all that matters! I do like the middle name idea though!!

I as well would guard against ASS. I have a friend that nearly did that, but loved the name so much that instead they switched the first and middle name. So it was SAS and they just called their son by their middle name. In your case it would be Sue Avery and you could still call her Avery.

I think it's totally fine if you want to use it for a boy, obviously that's totally up to you. But I think there is the potential for gender confusion. On ssa.gov Avery for is boy is ranked #137 and for a girl it is #13. So yes, it is a boys name too.

I think using Gabriel is fine as long as it won't bring up bad memories for you. I loved the name Julia and had settled on it if our first baby was a girl. When we had a miscarriage, I wasn't sure if I could then use Julia again, but since I didn't know the sex of that baby, I think it's OK. Hopefully, this makes sense

I wouldn't do the ASS thing but I think it's fine to reuse Gabriel. Don't worry, you have plenty of time! I'm sure you will find the perfect names.

I would stay away from ASS, but I think Gabriel is fine...maybe because my Mom had two miscarriages before me and still gave me the name they had picked out the first time.
