Currently I use a swiffer but it doesn't get the job done how I want it to. What do you use?

I normally mop with pine sol or use swiffer for small clean ups. I recently got a steam mop and am excited about putting it to use!!

I vacuum it and then use a rag on my hands and knees to get the rest.

@mslipgloss We had a Shark when we had hardwood floors (I miss them!) and it was amazing! Non-toxic, too!

Swifter, then wood floor cleaner mostly and spot clean whenever needed. I'll also steam mop every two weeks.

I'm old school...I sweep and wet mop. I started using Sal Suds a few months ago and really like it! You only need a comically small blob of cleaner for a gallon bucket, so it's going to last for years.
We have a swiffer but I never use it. I like it when there's more manual labor involved with chores. It feels like things get *really* clean when I put in a little elbow grease!

The cleaning lady at a house I work in (I am a nanny) uses a steam mop like the shark on the floors and they come out almost sticky. Like we don't even bother buying grippy socks because there is no way you could slide on these floors. Anyone know why or how to fix it?

@Cole: Do the owners use a swiffer or something similar? Most commercial cleaners leave residues. You should be able to tell if there's any gunk on the floor by taking a wet rag to it.

@Minnie_Girl: I will give it a try, I think this steam mop is the only thing they use besides the vacuum though.

@chopsuey119: I have that too! Lol, I think it's essential with dark floors.
I also have the dyson slim with the hardwood floor attachment and it picks up EVERYTHING! It's cordless, which is nice too.
