I don't know - I'm not a big car person. I like our minivan! DH wants his next car to be an AWD Subaru! I don't even know what those look like...

I'm not really into cars, but I like the look of an Audi station wagon. But DH prefers a Volvo. But we'd only take that plunge IF we extend our family - our little car is fine for now

I have a company car, so I order from a set list of vehicles...my company is super generous and always offers top of the line models, so whatever is on the list is really nice. If I had to order from the list today, I would probably order the Toyota Sienna minivan. I can't believe I'm typing that, but the one they offer has leather, sunroof, and a widescreen tv in the bag. I never thought I'd do a minivan, but I sort of love the idea of hitting a button and having doors open/close for me while trying together in/out with 2 kids:)

I'm not a car person, either.....something practical, is always my answer, HAHA. Probably Honda or Toyota, since I have some brand loyalty. It'll likely be a third row vehicle or minivan.
but i'm a believer in running my current vehicles to the ground as much as I can (I paid cash for my CRV, so dammit I want to get the most bang for my buck!!!!), so it'll be awhile!

I have had my car (Honda civic) for over 10 years and I thought I would have to replace it by now. So far so good so we are putting our money into a bigger house right now.
Eventually I want a blue Prius, although I am sometimes tempted by the Honda Pilot test my mom friends all seem to love. I think the smaller car will be fine with two car seats but we will see once LO #2 arrives in a few months!

When DH's 2002 Subaru Outback Sport dies I want either new a Honda CR-V, Subaru Outback, or Hyundai Santa Fe Sport.
We just bought new car last year (2013 Hyundai Elantra) to replace my 1996 Toyota Paseo that I had been driving since I was 16. We love it. It is a great commuter car.

@shellio: DH is Tesla-obsessed! They just opened a dealership about 5 minutes from our house and he practically drools every time we drive by

I've only recently bought a new car, so mine won't be upgraded for a while...Dh will probably get another in a year or so and if I had my way would be something like an Audi Q5. He will most likely end up with another BMW, maybe 3 series.

I go back and forth between a KIA Sportage or Sorrento, Ford Edge, and Mazda 5 (their tiny van). The 4x4 on the SUVs is something that would be so helpful but the fuel efficiency and sliding doors on the Mazda are really, really appealing for trips and life with a small child! But, DH just bought a brand new truck (because he is a fisherman and it is essential to run his business) so I think my new car will be a little ways away...

Another Subaru lover here. I have a '13 Outback and hopefully it will last me 10 years and I'll get a '23 Outback after that.

@looch: Mini's are awesome!! I have one but when it's done I won't be able to get another one and I literally would cry over it
I'm thinking about the new HRV!

@mediagirl: We have a mazda 3, too... DH can't wait to get rid of it tho, but ours is nearly 10 yrs old! We also have a Forester - we looked at the Outbacks and couldn't decide (they're virtually the same)... I love the Forester. I have never felt more safe in a car before.
I think we actually might get an Outback next time...which might be weird. For sedans, I like the Optima.
I would love a mini cooper or a jeep wrangler - a fun car would be nice. But one can dream.

My Prius is great but feeling a little tight. I'm going to look at the larger version, the Prius V. I love having a hybrid.

We have a Tahoe now, and I love it, but my husband wants to switch to a Toyota Sequoia when we need to make the move. Hopefully my Tahoe will last another 5 years, though, since it only has like 80,000 miles on it and it took me 6 years to get to that.

@MK0180: my husband may never let me sell my 3. We have NEVER had issues with it. It's a 2008 and apparently that is the best used car in it's size range. I'm hoping at 200k miles I can convince him it's time. I'm close....just 50k to go.

We are looking at upsizing from our 2012 Outback and I would love either a 2015 Tahoe, 2016 Pilot, or an Audi Q7. My dream car is a Mercedes GL 450

@mediagirl: I am still driving my old Mazda 3 also! I've had it for 10 years. I was going to get a new car when I had a baby but we have a nice family car so I haven't bothered. If I had to choose today, probably a Rav4 next.

Right now we only have one car. If we were to buy a second, it would probably be a Kia Soul. I love LOVE my Fiesta hatchback, but there's now way we could do a family road trip if we had Baby #2.

I'm happy with my crv and just bought it 2 years ago so right now I don't see myself getting a new car soon. Right now, I would love to pay it off and keep it around. But depending upon if we have more kids, I might have to get something bigger. Maybe a Honda Pilot, if it gets redesigned soon. I think it's too boxy looking now. I do like what the new Pathfinders look like.
My dream car would be the Lexus RX. Not sure if we can afford it.
eggplant / 11824 posts
@bluestriped bee: The price for a used (model only a few years old, with low mileage) Honda Pilot and Lexus RX350 is fairly comparable – within about $5-$7k, depending on features. The RX450H is definitely more.

We have a CR-V right now and I love it. If we ever need a bigger car we'll probably get the Odyssey or Piolet.

@mediagirl: we just traded in my 2009 3 for a 2014 6. I LOVED my 3, but it was a little small for carseats in the back. We never had a problem with it, but it had 170,000 miles and we wanted to trade it before something happened. Super happy with Mazda though, so we just upsized to the 6.

Oh man, I just found out that my car is terminal So my next car will be a 2011 VW Jetta, as I plan to buy my mom's car from her when she gets a new one. That'll work for the next 5-6 years until we can afford an actual new car. Not my dream car or anything, but it's nice enough!!

I want a Range Rover next. DH had one when I met him and I loved it.

Our next vehicle is a Ford F-150 we just ordered, since we just bought a farm. DH will soon be trading in his mini cooper convertible for an electric car. The plan was a Tesla, but since his commute will be shorter, we can't justify the cost of a Tesla when a Ford Focus Electric will work. I have a Subaru Impreza which I love- when it's time for a new one, it will be between another Subaru (Forester or Outback) and a Tesla Model X. I love Subarus, but an AWD electric is tempting.

@matador84: don't say that! we love our outback and i was hoping it would be perfect until we have 3 kiddos! our other car is an '05 scion xb and we'll drive that until it dies. 150K on it already! @mediagirl: i thought we drove a lot, but you have the same on your '08!

I have an 07 Civic, I have a long commute so the miles are piling up. I have about 110k right now. With regular maintenance, I have zero problems so I don't expect to need to replace it anytime soon.
DH has one of the last Saabs made before they went out of business, it's also a small 4 door sedan. Both of our cars are fine for 1 baby but if we decide to have #2 I think it will be a little tight! His Saab only has about 70k because he doesn't have much of a commute.
So the plan is, when my car is getting up there in miles, I will take his Saab with less miles for my commute, and he'll get a "family" car... probably minivan, not sure what kind!
eggplant / 11287 posts
I never thought I would be saying this, but probably a mini van. A Honda Odyssey. With 3 kids, I'm not sure how much longer we can last in our CR-V. And I'm not interested in anything huge like a suburban.

@birdofafeather: hard for me to come to terms with because I love mine too! If I had gotten smaller convertibles like a clek, maybe it would be better--the britaxs are pretty big, and with my husband being so talk he ruins it too! Ha! It was way better when we just had 1 child because I could still fold the back seat down and have lots of room.

I think I'm going to trade my grand Cherokee in for an Acadia in the next couple weeks. As much as I love my jeep, I think it's time for something bigger so I can fit cousins plus a future new baby! I really wanted the Audi Q7 but couldn't justify the cost.

Dream would be a hybrid Lexus NX. Reality is a odyssey or Sienna!
I wish by the time we get our next car (should be in 6m) there's a hybrid minivan!
