Just rough and tumble play clothes?
I was thinking about a romper but DH thinks pants would be better. She is 18 months!

I don't know what a play gym party is, but I assume it's one of those places with mats and toys and ball pits, etc?
Pants might be better... Kids get so riled up when they're in those kinds of places, pants would at least protect her legs a little better if she fell or went down a slide and whatnot.

Some places say socks and others say no socks so I bring those just in case. And an outfit that covers their dipe/undies is good. One time DD was just wearing a dress and she kept flashing everyone her undies. Not great.

Same as she wears everywhere - a medium length soft dress with bloomers, or soft shorts/pants/skirt with bloomers plus a tee. 22 months old. I'm really into fashion, but more important to me is that my daughter never feel held back by her clothing. So she never wears anything that she can't get dirty - or if she does, I always have a messy spare outfit. She never wears anything constructed that she can't move around in. And she never wears shoes that aren't comfortable for running and jumping, or that are too cute to get messy in.
All the time I see little girls being told not to play in the dirt, not to get messy - all in the name of keeping their clothing nice. It really breaks my heart, and I promised myself I would never do it with my daughter. But I love clothing! So I've looked really hard to find stylish, cute stuff that she can still play in - and it seems to have worked.

I dress my son in pants or shorts. If I had a girl, I could do a dress if she had leggings on underneath.
I always bring a pair of socks with the grippy feet and an extra pair of socks to change into. And a tee shirt, just in case!

I like to keep their knees covered... Even in a playgym where most of the surfaces are soft. I dunno why, just my preference. So they wear dresses with Capri leggings under a lot. If it's hot outside, I'll just put them on when they start playing.

@Pink Champagne: Yes, indoor gyms like Gymboree. I think the party is at MyGym!
