We just switched over to the toddler bed and so far so good. I don't think she knows that she's allowed to get out of it after we put her in until I go in the room to get her out. She always hangs out in bed until I get there!

My son gets out, he called us for a short while, but he's figured out he can get out, because he knows he can get in alone.

We haven't transitioned yet (we totally should but I'm stalling! I love having LO contained and he likes it too!), but LO's best friend switched right before she turned two, and now 7 or 8 months later she still doesn't get out of bed on her own after nap or in the morning ever. She'll climb in and out of bed if she's just playing, and she'll get into bed for naptime, but she will seriously just wake up at 6 AM in the mornings and yell "MOMMY! DADDY! COME GET ME!" until they come to her rather than just getting out of bed on her own. It's weird, but kind of nice!

She gets out. It's hard because at bedtime she tries to get out too! LOL!

She gets out of bed, walks to her door and calls for me!

She stayed on her bed for a full year and called for me! Then she realized that she could leave her room and come get me. Lol.

My LO wakes up, gets out of bed, opens his door, and walks into our room. He likes to say, "Wake up mommy."

@artbee: Congrats on making the switch! Our LO wont get out yet either!

@Lozza: This is us too, we showed her how to safely climb in and out but she only does it during play time!

In the beginning, it was great. She had no idea she could get out of her bed, so she would just lay there and play with her feet or look at the ceiling until we came to get her.
Now she climbs out and comes to our room right when she wakes up, saying, "Mommy daddy wake up"... and this would all be fine IF she wasn't waking up at 5:30-6 am every day!!! I'm praying this is just a phase because I don't know how much more of this I can take. Today, she was up when it was still dark out... I looked at the time and it was 5:10 am. I had just crawled back into bed too after feeding my other baby. Sigh.

@looch: She gets in and out by herself when we are in the room with her. But if we aren't there she stays put. Not sure why.
@Lozza: I was in no hurry to switch. Until LO started climbing out of the crib
@MsMamaBear: That's what I was worried about! At night now she rarely falls asleep right away. She'll just roll around and talk to herself for awhile. I thought for sure she would just climb out, play with her toys, and never fall asleep. Hasn't happened yet though!
@Mrs. High Heels: Luckily I wake up before my LO every day so I'm not too worried about that. I just like having a few minutes to clean the house up and throw in some laundry before getting her.

@artbee: I think it will be easier on me when my 2nd stops his night wakings. I also got spoiled from N in her crib because she used to wake up, and play in her crib for up to an hour before we would go get her without any problems. Those days are over. *Tear*. I need to adjust to this new normal!

DS didn't know he could get out, either. I didn't tell him otherwise until a couple summers ago, he was almost 4 and yelling "mom!" from his bed in the morning. I kept telling him to GET. UP. lol. Since then, besides having to get up for school, he'll play in his room until he hears me up and about.

My daughter has been in a floor bed since 8 months. She gets up and goes to the door and says 'need open door!!!!'. I dread the day when she can open it herself.

@Mrs. High Heels: Seriously. They go from playing in the crib and napping all day long to forcing you to go right away when they wake up and stop napping. How is this fair? I'm no less tired!

@artbee: My LO CAN climb out, but he only does it when we're there! It's so weird. We'll go get him and he'll announce that he'll do it himself, and just climb out, but he has never once done it when we're not in the room. I swear, I'd keep him there till age 4 if I could... he's very much a "I wonder what would happen if I knocked this over/banged on this as hard as I can/stuck this object in this hole/tried to climb this piece of furniture/etc." kind of kid, so when we do transition him there's going to be so much additional baby-proofing to be done!
